Truly someone who cares about the working class:

Stormy Daniels says that Trump took an interest in the business aspects of her industry and asked about unions, residuals, and health insurance, as well about S.T.D. testing.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 7 May 2024 15:29 (one year ago)

Signs point to yes!

Stormy Daniels says she asked Trump during their dinner: “Are you always this rude? Are you always this arrogant and pompous? Like you don’t even know how to have a conversation.”

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 7 May 2024 15:30 (one year ago)

Who needs a piss tape when we have:

Trump clearly mouths an expletive as Stormy Daniels recalls playfully spanking him with a rolled-up magazine, and saying he was much more polite afterwards.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 7 May 2024 15:30 (one year ago)

the rolled-up magazine was pissed on unfortunately

RICH BRIAN (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 7 May 2024 15:34 (one year ago)

what's funny is that at best if he'd never paid off Stormy, she'd have sold her story somewhere and it would be forgotten by now

Hmmm

Daniels is describing a remarkably intense encounter, and says that the room spun in slow motion and the blood left her hands and feet. She says that Trump did not act particularly threatening but blocked her access to the door to the bedroom. Then she says she “blacked out,” though she did not take alcohol or drugs. At this point, the judge — who has sustained one objection and seems unusually angry — called for a sidebar. He sustains another objection.

As noted earlier by Alan Feuer:

This is just the latest reminder that juries, even in the most prominent cases, almost never hear the full story. The evidence they are permitted to consider is always balanced against the possible prejudice it could have against the defendant.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 7 May 2024 15:50 (one year ago)

Though honestly this is my favorite image so far as I assume he looked equally glum then:

Trump is staring straight ahead glumly as Stormy Daniels describes him in his underclothes sitting on the bed waiting for her.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 7 May 2024 15:51 (one year ago)

C'mon, Feuer:

Clearly prosecutors want Daniels to confirm the sexual encounter that underpins the entire narrative of Trump seeking to pay her off, keep her quiet and ultimately covering up the nature of the payment. But the risk they run in eliciting such intimate details from Daniels is that the testimony backfires and the jury develops some sympathy for Trump.

If this was almost ANYONE else, maybe. But.

Andy the Grasshopper, Tuesday, 7 May 2024 17:54 (one year ago)

Oh the irony of Trump puffing himself up as a defender of free speech, willing to go to jail for our constitution, when in reality he's only being gagged for talking shit about the judge & jury in a case against him where he illegally bought the silence of others.

Judge Merchan canceled court proceedings on May 17 so Donald Trump could attend his son Barron's graduation, but Trump is attending a GOP fundraiser that day.

The Minnesota Republican Party just announced their headliner for their 2024 Lincoln Reagan Dinner on May 17 — former president Donald Trump.

Kim Kimberly, Tuesday, 7 May 2024 22:46 (one year ago)

Ooohhh wait til the judge hears about that

Andy the Grasshopper, Tuesday, 7 May 2024 22:50 (one year ago)

pleading for a special favor from the judge in your criminal case and then making it obvious you lied to them seems like, I don't know, a bad idea?

Rudy Can't Fail

Giuliani has claimed Trump owes him $2m in legal fees. Nonetheless, he continues to work on Trump’s behalf.

Giuliani is due to publish a book, The Biden Crime Family: The Blueprint for Their Prosecution, through an imprint linked to Steve Bannon, another close Trump ally. Release of the book has been repeatedly delayed. It is now due in September.

the document case is, compared to all the others, an open and shut guilty verdict. not surprised that's the one with the most corruption on display to get it after the election.

Susan Necheles just noted that Stormy Daniels has “an online store where you sell merchandise,” accusing her of “shilling” online. Daniels responds: “Not unlike Mr. Trump.”

Necheles implies directly that she made up her story of sex with Trump. But if it weren’t true, Daniels replies, “I would have written it to be a lot better,” drawing laughter in the courtroom.

Reading the NYTimes live updates from the Trump trial the thing that comes through most clearly is that Maggie Haberman really is not a very intelligent person. Her posts attempt to offer insight/analysis, but are just the most vapid, "this could be important" bullshit possible. She is as unreflective as her subject.

Instead of create and send out, it pull back and consume (unperson), Thursday, 9 May 2024 19:31 (one year ago)

the horror

Donald Trump dangled a brazen “deal” in front of some of the top US oil bosses last month, proposing that they give him $1bn for his White House re-election campaign and vowing that once back in office he would instantly tear up Joe Biden’s environmental regulations and prevent any new ones, according to a bombshell new report.

According to the Washington Post, the former US president made his jaw-dropping pitch, which the paper described as “remarkably blunt and transactional”, at a dinner at his Mar-a-Lago home and club.

Andy the Grasshopper, Thursday, 9 May 2024 21:02 (one year ago)

Pretty fatigued about the present, but I'm really quite worried that a generation of voters will grow up thinking all this is normal presidential behavior.

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 9 May 2024 21:02 (one year ago)

a generation of voters will grow up like the rest of us have throughout the history of our species, with not enough standing up to the kids like 2scoops who inherit most of the money. there will be ingenious excuses though!
