RAT test finally showed up as positive this afternoon. I clearly had covid and knew it already (hacking irritating cough and general aches/malaise)

One weird thing this and last time I had it is no fever. But I'm returning to that feeling that - Lily Dale, I recall us talking about this last time round! - like my chest is heavy, even though I can breathe ok.

I am in day 5 from positive, my second bout after 18 mos ago, this sucks, i feel bad but not bedridden, have never had a fever this time. i actually feel slightly worst today than yesterday didn’t expect that. so bo room to complain, but you get ‘em here.

Day 3: So far this sucks but is not nearly as bad as last time. Just feels like an unpleasant cold with fever and headache and lots of coughing. If there's going to be weird spooky shit like last time, it hasn't set in yet.

I've heard here in the Bay Area that there's definitely a 'wave' going on... college classes being cancelled due to high rates of infection. It seems to not be the worst strain but pretty prolific nonetheless

maybe, but worth noting that both nationally, in all four regions, and in California specifically, COVID wastewater levels are at "minimal" levels per the CDC. usually we'd see that jump significantly if there was an actual wave - worth noting as well that norovirus is still raging nationally at high levels, so that could be a culprit as it hasn't really backed off.

Got Covid for the second time in December, immediately was very sick, but decided to ride it out.

On morning of day four I was still incredibly sick, getting sicker, and because my first round of Covid resulted in about 4 months of scary long Covid kind stuff I broke down and started taking the pax.

By the evening I felt 80% better and the next morning barely felt sick at all. Tested negative two days after the initial pax, no rebound. I know there have been vastly different paxlovid outcomes for most folks, but it absolutely felt like a miracle drug for me.

third, first time since last january. so far significantly less horrible than it was last year. likely caught it from my guitarist, who caught it from his students. sometimes outdoor spaces such as a bar/restaurant backyard are not really "outdoor"

feel much better on day two than i ever have when i’ve had this horrible disease. almost more like i got a booster shot. still very sleepy and sneezy but

symptoms abruptly stopped today. so grateful this was a much less intense experience than the last time

My covid was quite mild this time round - no fever, only sick for about 5 days, most of which was just malaise and cough.
This time though Ive really struggled with fatigue since.

i had the fever for the first day but i always get the fever, every time, even every booster shot. this time i kept falling asleep while trying to watch the og mad max and had intense fever dreams about trying to build these dense impassable almost steampunkish road blockades. i woke up every hour and every time i went back to sleep it was the same dream. the only comparable sequences of dreams i've had to the covid fever ones have usually preceded food poisoning

Man, the turnaround these days is remarkable.

A few days ago I got back from a work trip in Singapore, a convention attended by people from all over the world. Feeling relieved that I did not come down with COVID despite the fact that several of my coworkers did.

this is worse than last time!

I got it on Tuesday, had a fever for a day and a nasty headache that lasted Tuesday night through Thursday, but once I got a decent night’s sleep on Thursday night I felt way better, basically just have mild fatigue at this point.

all clear. amazingly, only one other person in the house got it, and they got it long enough after I was all clear that it's not even clear they got it from me.

It seems the current strain is less catchy? At my wedding last year my best man was the only one who got COVID despite all the time I spent with him. This year I was at a wedding that had only a few cases despite proximity

had this recently, pretty certain picked up on a train in spain. i felt pretty average and quite tired but the main problem was that i got an infected ear at the same time. which of course *really* doesn’t let you sleep. so a combination of being v tired and not able to get any sleep was not good and although i got over the covid relatively quickly im still managing the overall knock on effects a couple of weeks later.

people have asked how i knew to test and i’m “idk it just felt like covid?” crackly throat, generally run down, sniffling etc. this is my third go round (none of them servere in themselves) and im getting to know the drill.

Wonder if the strain in Spain spreads mainly on the train

(sympathies to all affected. was just reading about a friend from Cali whose entire U.K. summer vacay was wrecked by COVID, spent most of it in isolation. preparing for my own U.K. vacay in a month, fingers crossed)

fwiw the isolation guidelines (for all respiratory illnesses) in the US are now "do what you like as long as you haven't had a fever for 24 hours"

I think it might be less about the virus being particularly strong in certain countries and more that long flights are an easy way to catch bugs in general. I got a pretty bad flu from my flight to Japan (not covid).

anecdotally tho i’m getting three or four reports of covid a month from spain over the last two months from a smaller network.
