#3 is not very easy for Europeans

gabbneb, Monday, 13 October 2008 14:14 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm guessing somewhere in the north east of the US - Massachussets or somesuch? Might be way off though. Any clues?

ailsa, Monday, 13 October 2008 14:37 (fifteen years ago) link

This is based on trees and scenery looking like it would be somewhere geographically similar to Northern Europe, but that one building and the grid layout of the roads looking American. Am I on the right lines?

ailsa, Monday, 13 October 2008 14:39 (fifteen years ago) link

I was thinking upstate NY.

Granny Dainger, Monday, 13 October 2008 14:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Damn I thought it was Legoland...

snoball, Monday, 13 October 2008 14:40 (fifteen years ago) link

If it had a highway cutting through it it would look like Concord, NH.

gabbneb, Monday, 13 October 2008 14:48 (fifteen years ago) link

or Casper, WY (which it isn't)

gabbneb, Monday, 13 October 2008 14:50 (fifteen years ago) link

i cant even tell what country that is. the pointy orange thing and two church steeples make me think europe somewhere but that bridge and some of those apartment buildings seem america? wait. is that an amusement park?

bangkok

lil yawne (harbl), Monday, 13 October 2008 15:34 (fifteen years ago) link

For such a densely packed in place, it looks a bit Day Of The Triffids. No one in the park, no cars visible on the street. Can't see what the sign says, but it looks more likely to be in Roman script, not Japanese or Chinese.

Not New World, somehow not European-looking, I'd guess India, although that doesn't quite seem right either.

xpost yes maybe Bangkok

Zelda Zonk, Monday, 13 October 2008 15:37 (fifteen years ago) link

There's one of those ship steering wheels on the red house, which suggest on the coast. I know inland people might do that too but lets say its less likely for now

Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Friday, 31 May 2024 12:51 (yesterday) link

I think not Wales because they've moved to recycling bags for different types of material instead of all-in bins.

Other than that I don't see a way to narrow it down much further.

Overtoun House windows (aldo), Friday, 31 May 2024 12:55 (yesterday) link

It's not a ship's wheel I don't think, could be a cart wheel maybe?

Overtoun House windows (aldo), Friday, 31 May 2024 12:57 (yesterday) link

Oh, hmm, I was about to say I found some semi-similar streets in Milford Haven but very easily a false positive as houses like this could be all over.

Is that recycling thing Wales-wide?

Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Friday, 31 May 2024 12:57 (yesterday) link

I think it depends on the council but I've just checked Pembrokeshire and they're bags and boxes so not Milford Haven.

Overtoun House windows (aldo), Friday, 31 May 2024 13:00 (yesterday) link

are the TV aerials still a thing everywhere in the UK or does this mean we're looking at a smaller island maybe?

StanM, Friday, 31 May 2024 13:17 (yesterday) link

Not every county has blue bins, looks like the houses are ex-council as people have painted them / attached random shit to them etc. I'm taking a punt at a post-war estate in somewhere like Oxford. Cutteslowe?

Agnes, Agatha, Germaine and Jack (Willl), Friday, 31 May 2024 13:18 (yesterday) link

The last time Camaraderie at Arms Length did one of these Britain ones it was in China so there might be a curveball in there

Tow Law City (cherry blossom), Friday, 31 May 2024 13:28 (yesterday) link

dont think I'm giving anything away by saying no, it's not in Cutteslow or in China

agree with the general wales/west of England vibe.

not the following places based on a bin check:
torbay
swansea
swindon
bristol
Oxford

Could be near me in Warwickshire but looks a bit too bright

nxd, Friday, 31 May 2024 16:52 (yesterday) link

We have to be missing something, its too generic on the face of it. I felt Wales on a hunch but it could be somewhere like Retford just as easily
