If this becomes a thread connection, I will probably not post it

why is that thread constantly in the most read threads list?

I ♠ my display name (sarahel), Sunday, 27 September 2009 03:10 (fifteen years ago)

I don't know? It's got a woman in the title, but it's two years old and the reads are on-site reads. It doesn't make sense. The simpsons porn one only partly makes sense, but a lot of those reads are site reads too. Wait, I get that one, because it persists because of the most read threads page working in concert with google hits. But the other one with the girl I just don't get, unless it's a lesser version of the same phenomenon.

Fact: www.dhmo.org is a website dedicated to that stupid joke your chemistry teacher makes in high school about dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) being the most abundant, potentially dangerous chemical in the world.

Fact: according to double top-secret web analytics I saw for epa.g0v today, the number two referrer to EPA's website in the past 3 months was www.dhmo.org, and it's been in the top 5 for the past year.

we have a couple of his albums at work - he's a good guy, a little grumpy. I haven't actually listened to his albums, but I've seen him live. This is the case with a lot of music for me, actually.

It’s nice to see gyac saying something positive about zach as opposed to accusing him of being a monster.

Very interesting how the initial reaction was to cheer this on, because of who it was directed against.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 9 November 2024 18:28 (seven months ago)

I don't believe I cheered his violent post on. I expressed support of him as a poster of greater value than you, which I still believe. I know that will be hair-splitting to many.

WmC, Saturday, 9 November 2024 18:35 (seven months ago)

*points at a vile aggressive post* this poster has value!

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 9 November 2024 18:44 (seven months ago)

Ok I don’t see the “something sharp” post as being specifically directed at anyone… though I am assuming zach and ivy were the targets of the “shitbags” post which is … ugh, gross, no.

sarahell, Saturday, 9 November 2024 18:50 (seven months ago)

And even though I disagree with xyzzz on some things, I think it’s rude to say he isn’t a valuable poster, or at least as valuable a poster as unperson.

sarahell, Saturday, 9 November 2024 18:55 (seven months ago)

It is clearly aimed at someone because the whole point of this thread is to passive agressively post what you'd actually like to post somewhere else but worry would be too incindiary (this thread is not a good idea). I have no idea who that someone is but frankly the image is gross no matter what.

Daniel_Rf, Saturday, 9 November 2024 18:58 (seven months ago)

That wasn’t the initial point of this thread ffs! It makes me annoyed that it has come to be perceived this way.

Initially it was like, things you wanted to post but by the time you were in posting mode, the discussion had shifted such that your post would have been a derail or not constructive. Or just random things that were derails in general. And the concept was that it had the same structure as a normal discussion thread, but it wasn’t a discussion, so it is just this absurd text.

sarahell, Saturday, 9 November 2024 19:04 (seven months ago)

And it was started at a point in ilx where bmcquern and I had people annoyed at us for derailing threads, so this is where we would post instead.

sarahell, Saturday, 9 November 2024 19:06 (seven months ago)

Ok fair, I don't think I was paying too much attention to ILX when it was first created...it is what it's now used for tho, almost exclusively afaict, and yeah I don't think that's good.
