As you can see from this list ALONE, one of my dating problems is attraction to opposite types. Can't make up my mind whether the muscle-bound & generally capable over the cerebral types w/o confidence or physical presence but then they start lecturing and I swoon on cue.

(I am trying to figure out if his Captain Anderson hair is his own hair, or a wig. He does seem to like having his hair long, at least in the past. If it's a wig, it's a remarkably accurate slightly receding hairline that matches his own. Plus a lovely mix of slightly salt and pepper ginger. Sometimes he's more ginger than others, though.)

I was crushing on old-school Hillary Clinton (in her Twenties) -- probably because she resembles my supremely attractive friend Erin (who, despite liking me, is with someone else right now and so she's horribly unattainable). Goodness gracious, I'm an absolute sucker for blondes these days. But after dropping by a bookstore yesterday where my long-time friend Molly (who is not a blonde, mind you) works -- oh goodness, she's always stunning but yesterday I really wanted to pounce on her because she looked so exceptionally scrumptious (without even trying!) and was just so bubbly and charming. I wanted to playfully tackle her behind the counter and from there on it would've been wonderfully inappropriate! Anyhow, she's invited me along to dinner and some other event with a group of her friends on Friday -- it's not a date essentially, but at heart I wouldn't mind if it twisted into one. Ooh, I just remembered that she complimented my appearance! No-one ever does that! Squee! Cuddlestein Mountain! Nuvvieworld! Okay, I'm just getting ridiculous -- I'm just excited because it's a prospect to escape social poverty with a possible hint of romance. I'm probably being too optimistic; I can't help it! I'm not sure if this counts as a crush, but for the past few days I've seen the same woman every day, standing outside a shop handing out flyers. The first day we kind of smiled at each other, and yesterday we definitely smiled at each other. Today I passed her twice - the first time we did an "oh, you again!" smile and wave thing, and the second time I stopped to talk to her!

I'm *so* pleased with myself! I actually managed to stop and talk to a random stranger because I thought they looked attractive! Wow!

i think if you've already talked to the person it's not really stalkerish to go and talk to them again, in fact, the next time you see this person you HAVE to talk and be friendly! see it's only stalkerish if you hide behind the bushes with a camera.

xpost knowing a legitimate reason is kind of important in the sense that you don't want to actually be telling them you're going there especially to see them, that's kind of upfront and put pressure on the whole encounter. in fact you don't really want to talk about why you were there at all unless they ask - you just are there, and you happen to be chatting, talk about her, and you.

N.B. I would like to point out that it wasn't as if I was *purposely* breaking mic stands in order to talk to the Cute Soundman. Pretty much all the mic stands were wonky. It was just that if the Cute Soundman was working, I'd use that as an excuse to go and talk to him. If it was one of the other soundmen, we'd just put up with it.

crush update: hurrah hurrah i think the one on the one that made me lose all my words is fading! it's sort of sad, like when the glowsticks that looked so pretty and vivid last night look rubbish and faded and tawdry in the morning, but since it means i will be able to have an Actual Conversation with the dude in question it is definitely a Good Thing.
