I understand the above comment is redic at face value. I may be guilty of not understanding nhl finances in the way I understand, say MLB finances. It just seems like 50 pts a year should not be worth 5.8m per. Also Dubinsky is not a "star" in the way that Toews et al are stars. I don't pay to see Dubinsky play I pay to watch him live in a system

dubinsky's contract is a direct result of bolland's, which is why everyone in the league is pissed at dale tallon. dubinsky is, after all, $300k better than bolland.

that doesn't mean that a team is forced to follow that logic, but with 30 to choose from the odds are in a middling player's favor.

Well TB scared me more than I expected last night. They screwed themselves coming out in the 2nd with the apparent intent of bashing every Hawk the moment he passed the puck on. It didn't work and it took them out of so many opportunities to gain control back. Great game. Gonna be a more difficult win for the Hawks than I predicted for sure. Too bad for the Lightning, though, because according to Wikipedia it appears the Hawks have already won the Cup!
