I beg to differ, my dear

Probably voting Paramount.

Cronk's Not Cronk (Eric H.), Monday, 7 July 2014 16:26 (eleven years ago)

This is hard. I haven't watched enough old movies to know how consistent each studio was. MGM had the most distinctive style. Tempted to vote for WB, but their great dvd releases may be influencing me. Not Columbia in any case -- a prestige movie every so often surrounded by a bunch of b-movies.

MGM put out the most consistent and shiny product. WB was more of a brilliant scavenger, especially with their cartoon & gangster film empire.

what years inclusive?

I'll leave that to the discretion of each voter, but for me this period ends sometime around 1950; if anyone wants to extend that to, say, 1957 - the year RKO ceased production - or the end of the '50s, that would be perfectly reasonable.

Starting point would be the 1920s - pick any year.

Nice that RKO got a vote.. King Kong, Astaire-Rogers, and Citizen Kane all within the company's first twelve years isn't too bad
