lets agree one day next week, time and location. we should accomodate mista W as well.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 October 2002 09:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Jeff sez on the ILE awards thread: ''I can do Monday or Thursday at the moment.''

he can't do tuesday.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 October 2002 09:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll be in England from the 17th to the 20th. Not planning on hanging around London though I may be willing to change my plans if a tempting enough FAP is set up.

So London-ocentric...why not take this bitch to the Midlands?

Miss Laura, Thursday, 10 October 2002 09:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Wednesday's definitely out for me too now. Thursday 17th would be ideal.

Jeff W, Thursday, 10 October 2002 10:35 (twenty-three years ago)

OK. lets go for a location and time. ppl who have gone to many will know here so can we have some suggestions?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 October 2002 10:42 (twenty-three years ago)

in a pub? early doors?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 10 October 2002 10:44 (twenty-three years ago)

pub?!! would have nevah thought of such thing...you're genius!

OK now think abt which pub?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 October 2002 10:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I've changed the title of this thread.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 10 October 2002 10:50 (twenty-three years ago)

kewl!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 October 2002 10:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I can come to this, as can Rebecca L, CAN'T SHE?

Graham (graham), Thursday, 10 October 2002 10:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't come coz I live in Glasgow, but it's my b'day - please have a pint for me.

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 10 October 2002 10:57 (twenty-three years ago)

we will!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 10 October 2002 10:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't make it, which is a shame, seeing as its my birthday.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 10 October 2002 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

MarkH, could we be cosmic twins, separated at birth.....?

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 10 October 2002 11:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I can only make it late, got school beforehand. Tuesdays and Thursdays are bad for me remember.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 10 October 2002 11:19 (twenty-three years ago)

You never know! What's also weird is that both my paternal grandparents were born on 17th October too, although I never got to discuss it with them as they died in '67 & '68 and I didn't come on the scene until '70.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 10 October 2002 11:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Spooky. Unfortunatley we are not cosmic twins, we shall have to be cosmic siblings, coz I came along 5 years later....

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 10 October 2002 12:20 (twenty-three years ago)

hmmm day before Giro day = doubtful

chris (chris), Thursday, 10 October 2002 12:31 (twenty-three years ago)

i cant make it, i'll be in new york

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 10 October 2002 21:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Identification will be done on the basis of your answers to the eyebrows thread.

Miss Laura, Friday, 11 October 2002 07:13 (twenty-three years ago)

By my calculations FT will have got its millionth hit on that day so I'll be buying any attendees a drink to celebrate!

Tom (Groke), Friday, 11 October 2002 07:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Laura- very tempting no?

I'm really looking forward to it myself.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 11 October 2002 09:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I am up for this. Can Tom, Pete, Tim or some other pub expert nominate a location?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 11 October 2002 11:40 (twenty-three years ago)

just putting this at the top of new answers for the ppl who can only post during the weekend.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 12 October 2002 19:28 (twenty-three years ago)

My housemate is doing a reading from his new novel on Thursday at the Minibar in Islington. You could all come and throw peanuts at him... ;-)

kate, Saturday, 12 October 2002 19:31 (twenty-three years ago)

we have the first nomination for a meet up place here. bit far for me but um, maybe.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 12 October 2002 19:49 (twenty-three years ago)

I note that we seem to be forgetting the rule* that I should never have to walk more than 500 yards from my workplace for a FAP because I am the most elderly.

*not an actual rule.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 12 October 2002 19:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Probably not a good place for a meet up, as the bastards don't let you talk ... or even SERVE BOOZE while the artistes are reading.

kate, Saturday, 12 October 2002 19:56 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm very lazy too!

''or even SERVE BOOZE while the artistes are reading''

that's a no no!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 12 October 2002 19:57 (twenty-three years ago)

If there are enough of us, Kate, we can do what we want. I'm guessing that there is not a lot of heavyweight security at the average book reading. Unless your flatmate is Rushdie or Houllebeq.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 12 October 2002 19:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Considering how much those bloody New Puritans drink, it's an outrage.

kate, Saturday, 12 October 2002 20:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Gareth: i cant make it, i'll be in new york
Simeon: I can't make it either, I'll be in old York.
Damn, and I was so looking forward to kicking Trewarthas arse...

Simeon (Simeon), Saturday, 12 October 2002 23:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Is Alan back in the UK yet?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 13 October 2002 13:50 (twenty-three years ago)

i suggest making the location public life, if you are still going to have it on the 17th. then you can come to nonsense, and hear me play some garage...

ambrose (ambrose), Sunday, 13 October 2002 16:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm a bit scared of the reading for the same reason as Kate: the last thing a reading needs is us lot babbling and the last thing a FAP needs is a period of enforced silence.

Does Public Life keep club hours? I was going to suggest the Horse and Groom on Gt Portland St, which being near to Oxford Circus has easy access to the Central Line (so FAPpers could move on to Public Life later on if they want?)

Tim (Tim), Sunday, 13 October 2002 17:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Sounds sensible, Tim. The Coach and Groom.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 13 October 2002 18:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry, I meant Horse & Groom. It does link to the correct pub.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 13 October 2002 18:22 (twenty-three years ago)

excellent choice!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 13 October 2002 18:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes - HORSE AND GROOM. Back to the top of New As.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 14 October 2002 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

*bounce*

Graham (graham), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 12:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Invite falling on a bruise! That way you could all have Carter kareoke.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Well as I won't be getting there til 9:30-ish the Carter Karaoke will have to wait. Dammnit.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there pretty early, maybe before 6.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there at around 6.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, that reminds me: I have to pull out of our planned Friday lunchtime meet, Julio, as I now have the day off work. You'll have had enough of me on Thursday evening anyway, and no one else seemed to be coming.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

OK martin.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm up for it, but I'm not sure my body will be, as I'm currently sitting here a miserable snivelling wreck for the second time in three weeks.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 08:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Only one day to go! I hope you're all excited!

My body is a snivelling wreck too but I am going to put it on a healthy regimen of cola and sweets to cheer it up before tomorrow.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 08:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I am very up for this. my first (London) FAP evah (went to the one in toronto)!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

COME ON ILE!!

Who's going then???

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 12:58 (twenty-two years ago)

If it is the R1 pub then I think I know a former landlord. Oo. If you see L*m*cq then report back as to whether said bloke is right that he's a really nice guy despite all the Muse/Starsailor/godawful skapunk.

Rebecca (reb), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Aren't you coming Rebecca?

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

attn. waverers: COME TO THE PUB!

(I am now off to the "what do you all look like?" thread. Alternatively please all wear your 'I Survived TrigBrother' tee-shirts for easy identification. Thankyou.)

Jeff W, Wednesday, 16 October 2002 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

YES SHE IS.

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

The only time I saw Lamacq in a pub in that area it wasn't in the Horse & Groom. I didn't speak to him, obv., but his behaviour didn't offend me in any way. Well done SL.

I didn't know it was the R1 pub (though I witnessed a piece of ROCK HISTORY there). Going to the R1 pub = classic, surely?

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Anybody know how Mark is getting on re : mum's illness?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

If I do come I shall probably be carrying a Forbidden Planet bag, it's late night opening on Thursday, I think.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in of course. can't wait to talk to you all in person.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll be there early (prob before 6). If anyone is seeking ILXers, my pic is on my profile here, and I'll be in a black suit with a white shirt and dark red tie. I shall look for a sapphic pixie...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 16 October 2002 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll do my best, JK is also in London on today day, but we're also doing NEW BLEEP and NON/SENSE. Ambrose rocks the most!
And for those who are in town on Sunday. PLUG AND PLAY will be in action, but I'm not sure about the crowd this time, we came 31st in thi month's MUSIK's Dance Hot 50 cover feature (hehe) check the photos.

nick.K (nick.K), Thursday, 17 October 2002 06:26 (twenty-two years ago)

What I want to know is: Dave q, are you coming or what?

Miss Laura, Thursday, 17 October 2002 07:03 (twenty-two years ago)

dave q has never made an appearence.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 17 October 2002 07:56 (twenty-two years ago)

NEW BLEEP looks GRATE!!! Will try and make the next one for sure!

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 17 October 2002 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

At 998,105 hits and counting it is looking like my drink-buying celebratory offer is rescinded!

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 17 October 2002 08:33 (twenty-two years ago)

My head has sorted itself out now, which means I can come out to play and fuck it up all over again! YAY!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 17 October 2002 08:37 (twenty-two years ago)

no pics of me are available. i have black hair, brown skin. have a grey jumper, black trousers and black shoes and should be around at abt 6pm.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 17 October 2002 09:11 (twenty-two years ago)

If I can breathe through my nose again by this evening I will come out. As it is all I am fit for is sitting in bed drinking tea and alternating Elle with Age Of Innocence.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 17 October 2002 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm probably not coming, I'll come to the next one and the Christmas thing!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 17 October 2002 11:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh... actually, I'm not convinced that illness is an excuse. I was a germ-infested ruin when I arrived at the last (and only) FAP I went to. When I left, I was a bouze-infested ruin, but I felt much better the next morning!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 17 October 2002 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry guys, can't make it tonite, see you at the next one (well, apart from those of you i'll see inbetween now and then obv.)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 17 October 2002 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

No, a last ditch attempt at doing constructive things (i.e. staggering to computer and attempting work) has finished me off. I feel really bad now as I've missed last two FAPs, but I will come out again, promise.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 17 October 2002 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I forgot to reply earlier and it is probably too late now, but alas, no. When's the next one? Maybe with that much warning I could sort something out (if I'm welcome, of course), or maybe I could just sit around for a month thinking about it and then realise two days beforehand that it is just as difficult as ever, again. But hey, with a month to go I can convince myself that I can lose lots of weight beforehand, and then maybe I'll feel obliged to go by the time I realise that I've only put on more.

Rebecca (reb), Thursday, 17 October 2002 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you mean these things when you say them Rebecca? Seriouly, I mean?

Graham (graham), Thursday, 17 October 2002 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

(though if you do you need a great big hugglez more than I do)

Graham (graham), Thursday, 17 October 2002 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

It's gone six and I'm nowhere near finished........bah

nick.K (nick.K), Thursday, 17 October 2002 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I hope you enjoyed it all! I am just back to Boston on my way back to NY (by this evening). Just reporting back in. Too much to actually say about where I've been... except... where the hell are all the bloody internet cafes, eh? Bloody New England, bloody, backwoods, grrr. :-)

Glad to be back in civilised lands.

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 17 October 2002 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

It was good fun. Nice to see people - shout outs to Laura, Julio and Jeff - new FAP people! I think everyone there would be v.glad things are OK with Mark S and mum. Thanks to Tim and Nick for the CDs!

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 17 October 2002 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

full report purlease. Who fell over? Who laughed beer out of their nose etc etc.

chris (chris), Friday, 18 October 2002 07:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Didn't get the chance to speak to everyone or get properly drunk this time as I was there for only an hour or so. I seemed to have about 50 things happening at once last night. Still, great to see everyone again and finally meet Jeff and Julio. Sorry to everyone who I didn't get the chance to speak to/bore rigid/steal fags from - next time eh?

Rocktor C (Dr. C), Friday, 18 October 2002 08:46 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry I couldn't make it. Hopefully next time! I will be in the Head of Steam in Euston tonight, so the prospect of drinking beer from a Tetrapak on the Tube home is a distinct possibility (unless Tim H is having me on).

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 18 October 2002 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry I didnt get to talk to Jeff much - but it was great to meet him (and Julio and Laura but I did get to chat to them).

Tom (Groke), Friday, 18 October 2002 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Dr C, you'd have been disapointed on the fag stealing front anyway. Even if I had made it out, heavy old has stopped me smoking.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 18 October 2002 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Try Woodbines, Anna!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 18 October 2002 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Or Capstan.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 18 October 2002 09:07 (twenty-two years ago)

But surely old lady cigarettes are different? (if I have not managed to give up by the time I am in my dotage I think tortoishell holders are the only way forward.)

Anna (Anna), Friday, 18 October 2002 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

**tortoishell holders are the only way forward**

And a pince-nez.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 18 October 2002 09:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I was very drunk. And grumpy. And ill. I'm sorry. As usual. *coughs pitifully*

Sarah (starry), Friday, 18 October 2002 10:22 (twenty-two years ago)

and very nice to meet tom, see what Rocktor C! looked like and nice to meet jeff. good to know tim like the diamanda Cd i sent to him as part of 102 beats that.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 October 2002 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry we didn't get the chance to talk Julio - next time hopefully.

You seemed your usual jolly self, Starry! (Even if you kept your work friends away from us!)

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 18 October 2002 10:56 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry coulndt make it. I was somewhere between Tamworth and Cheltenham, courtesy of Virgin TRains.

jon (jon), Friday, 18 October 2002 11:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Quite rightly so too! :)

Sarah (starry), Friday, 18 October 2002 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Pleasur eto meet you too, Julio, (and Jeff, and indeed all you folks I've met before). Sorry that previous commitments took me away before I had the chance to see the later arrivals (and grill the Doctor on that record I gave him last time).

Tim (Tim), Friday, 18 October 2002 12:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Tim the Love Clinic record is excellent - it has brought a tiny ray of sunlight into the Ruin that is my life.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 18 October 2002 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Glad you like it. Does it sound kind of odd or is that just me?

Tim (Tim), Friday, 18 October 2002 12:12 (twenty-two years ago)

THEY MADE ME DRINK BEER

nick.K (nick.K), Friday, 18 October 2002 13:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Odd how so?

Tom (Groke), Friday, 18 October 2002 13:17 (twenty-two years ago)

:(

gareth (gareth), Friday, 18 October 2002 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

It was great to meet lots of you finally (altho' none of you look like you're supposed to, or how I imagined or something ;-) Except Tom and Grrraham. Ignore all those anti-beard comments, Tom, I cannot imagine you w/out it now.) Thanx to Marcello for putting up with my teasing, and thanx esp. to Tim and Mike and RickyT for making me feel so welcome.

Am now in the wilds of Glos. after a successful day's shopping, some details of which will no doubt appear on ILM soon.

Jeff W (Jeff W), Friday, 18 October 2002 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it was great meeting some new people, and of course seeing the old ones again. It cheered me up, and I needed it.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 18 October 2002 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry I didn't talk to (almost) anyone, but huddled in the corner with my s*n****r mates. Boo to me.

Mark C (Mark C), Friday, 18 October 2002 21:32 (twenty-two years ago)
