thinking of getting one - any advice????

I've had one for two years and it's done a good job tbh, fulfilled my needs. Its screen is now horribly cracked after I accidentally lay on it, but I still use it

I like the fact it's so limited that it basically enables internet browsing and typing but nothing else.

Doesn't it more or less force you to use all things google? Google docs, cloud, gmail, googles photo thingy, stuff like that? I'm looking for a new, *easy* to use laptop too, for my mother who's had meningitis and two strokes. Just for browsing and for her to read and send emails. Would this be a reasonably good option?

I would say what I woudl mostly want is google docs (word, excel substitute) - maybe spotify - some photoshop-like deal - I just wonder how many times you end up SOL when its like "you need sliverlight and cant have it" or "that propgram wont run on chromebooks" etc
