Being a computer nerd may have made my eyesight worse as a child, but I started wearing glasses before I every used a computer.

it's only to an extent. modern man demands 20/20, and the market can deliver this (it can also pick up when your prescription fluctuates due to not having to correct any more, and sell you replacements)

friend of mine reported this exact interaction (sans britishness) over the copy of pale fire she borrowed from me the other day. (the gentleman had "taken a lit class" where everyone had "pretended to understand".) i guess this is just what girls have to live with day-to-day cuz she seemed amused whereas i was like violently enraged by proxy.

A while ago I was going back on a Friday night (train was full) and this girl seemed to be reading something Dan Brown-like (something that sold by the truckload I can't recall so much, having had a few and unable to ignore this 'interaction' by reading myself) and the guy (clearly trying to pull) was saying how it wasn't well written and how she should read [insert whatever your 'good writing' recommends are here]. She didn't violently tell him where to go or anything..
