This might be an outdated thread concept bc I don't know how many people still get DVDs from Netflix. But let's try it.

"Enemy" starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

I've had Django Blu-ray for over a year

Synecdoche, New York
― da croupier, Tuesday, 26 August 2014 17:49 (ten years ago)
Send Django back, it's not very good. Synecdoche is pretty good but you'd have to be in the right mood for it, it's pretty depressing, I'd say send it back if you haven't been able to make yourself watch it for a while.
― Immediate Follower (NA), Tuesday, 26 August 2014 17:52 (ten years ago)
Wait, so basically he's spent like $100 on Django?
― how's life, Tuesday, 26 August 2014 18:19 (ten years ago)
lol i get the one blu ray a month + streaming . I've used the streaming plenty i just haven't utilized the dvd part except for the django that's been sitting unopened.

or if you thought source code had too few jake gyllenhaals
― Peeking at Peak Petty (Sufjan Grafton), Tuesday, 26 August 2014 19:44 (ten years ago)
between the streaming and the idea that i'm paying for the PRIVILEGE to access DVDs by mail, rather than the specific dvd, i can keep from thinking too much about how much specifically went towards eventually seeing the Justin Lin juvenalia Better Luck Tomorrow.

Enemy is ridiculous. I can't say in good conscience it's "good" but if you want peak-weirdo Gyllenhaal in a quasi-erotic Lynchian "thriller", go for it.
Django's great! Watch that!
― Nhex, Tuesday, 26 August 2014 19:50 (ten years ago)
Enemy is funSynecdoche is a compelling, daring mess
― son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 26 August 2014 19:53 (ten years ago)
Synecdoche is hilarious. Deliberately, I think it is kind of poking fun at self disgust and self obsession, from someone who's been there enough to know how serious & how ridiculous it is.
― ledge, Tuesday, 26 August 2014 20:22 (ten years ago)
which django are we talking about here

cmon jjj, why would they be talking about any of the three dozen Django movies before that one?

When I click "Gay and Lesbian" on Netflix, I get three Jake Gyllenhaal movie options. Someone at Netflix reads ILX.

I had 'The Five Obstructions' sitting around for awhile and just sent it back. Tried watching it once with my gf and about 15 minutes in it stopped playing due to scratches, got a new copy, turns out she wasn't that into it anyway.

American Hustle. Sitting around for several months, but every time I want to watch something I put in a musical documentary or some old 40s B-movie instead.

i watched the five obstructions with my parents when i was in high school, rented from blockbuster, they weren't fans but were glad to have spent some time with me

I've had Attack the Block and Jodorowsky's Dune next to the TV for ages now, I think I planned to watch them when my wife was going to be out of town and her trip got cancelled. She has no real interest in either of them but I don't really want to send them back yet.
― joygoat, Tuesday, 26 August 2014 22:41 (ten years ago)
Attack The Block is great
― da croupier, Tuesday, 26 August 2014 22:44 (ten years ago)
cosign - def watch Attack The Block
― SEEMS TO ME (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 26 August 2014 22:45 (ten years ago)
We've had 2001 for a week+, watched the first 40 minutes over two different nights and haven't felt the impulse to go back to it. Will probably return.
Attack the Block and Jodorowsky's Dune are both definitely worth watching. Try to get your wife to watch the latter with you, she might find it more interesting than she imagined (my wife watched it and liked it and has no interest in Jodorowsky/Dune/sci fi).
