Let's also put aside the fact Taylor's parents have been shaping and controlling and market managing her pop career since she was 14, setting up merchendising companies in her name, alienating people with that alleged arrogance and 'pay as little as possible and treat people like shit' attitude.

Let's put all that aside for a brief moment and reconsider her assertion: "It's my opinion that music should not be free".

And remind ourselves: She's only worth $200 million, guys. She only made $120 million on her last tour. We shouldn't forget that. She's only 24. People at 24 with only hundreds of millions in the bank and millions of adoring merchandise wearing fans can only be asked to give so much. I mean come on, her New York penthouse was only bought for $20 million, how do you expect her to keep up this lifestyle? Music should not be free. Music should not be free. Mostly no. The difference between the espresso you get out of a top-quality commercial machine like a La Marzocco and out of a substandard quality home machine is enormous. There are pricey but not insanely pricey home machines where you can get pretty close to the Marzocco quality with the right technique. And certain factors in making espresso are pretty well-established -- pressure, temperature, grind, tamping (not to speak of the beans themselves). The best machines are simply able to produce the appropriate pressure and temperature consistently, which is surprisingly difficult. Other bells and whistles can make a difference -- the bottomless portafilter, for example, but there's a pretty commonsense reason for that one -- in a normal portafilter oils from the coffee build up and are hard to clean away. The bottomless portafilter simply eliminates that problem.

I was following up to the examples and then hmm

it’s not far fetched at all there is a massive overlap between anti-vaxxers and autism parents. and neither of those other examples seem massively out there to me either

they might not necessarily be part of a conscious linear thought process but what is

anti-vaxxers generally question the efficacy of the vaccines. so it is a stretch to say that they would rather their children dead than autistic. this kind of thing is usually an emotional response, often from someone with autism themselves (or close to people with autism), so is a bit more understandable in that context

man alive is technically correct; more accurate statements would be "White America’s apathy toward police killings of Black men just proves they don't give a shit about the treatment of Black people" and “Global warming inaction demonstrates how much our politicians don't care about the existence of the world past their lifetimes.”

however, anyone capable of parsing sentiment should be able to understand what those original examples are driving at so it really is just splitting semantics for the sake of splitting semantics

I guess going back to the original thing, my experience with antivaxxers is that their reasoning is a few steps removed from reality, and usually includes believing that their kids won't actually get those diseases for whatever reasons ("natural immunity," use of homeopathic immunity boosters etc). I guess it's possible that the grossly twisted thinking of an antivaxxer sometimes grows out of struggles with having a severely autistic child, even though it tends to take a life of its own from there.
