Has Wilko ever taken a team down?

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Wilko & Cotterill put Sunderland in a position of survival this season. It would surprise me a lot if they gave any indication of anything more. It would amaze me if their Sunderland side was interesting to watch in any way. Wilko's all abotu discipline and players having simple roles they know through and through. Cotterill performed minor miracles at Cheltenham, but it was *nasty*, and not in a good way.

Hmmm I dunno, I think Wilco lost his marbles a bit in the last few years of his management career.

Lots of managers lose their way with one club and then do OK with another though, don't they?

I'm not making a claim for Sgt. Wilko being one of the greats, and his teams during his last days with Leeds were very odd, but I don't think he's as loopy as people make out. My guess is his Sunderland teams will be stultifyingly sane.
