is this things that will appear odd in their 2014 iteration to the people of 1000 years from now, or things that exist now that would appear weird to people of 2014 in their 1000 years time iteration?

Angel Brain (soref), Friday, 3 October 2014 20:37 (ten years ago)

like is the suggestion that the fashion catwalks of 3014 will look really weird?

Angel Brain (soref), Friday, 3 October 2014 20:38 (ten years ago)

I thought I heard that the bellybutton was more a traditional thing than a necessary one. & the umbilical cord could be severed without leaving a scar. So in a milenium's time will people have smooth mid abdomen sans navel? Or do I have that idea set up wrong?

Stevolende, Friday, 3 October 2014 22:20 (ten years ago)

that is ridiculous

Οὖτις, Friday, 3 October 2014 22:24 (ten years ago)

when they cut the cord, there's still a bunch of scar tissue left (it looks like a button, quel surprise), it just dries up and falls off. which is what would happen to it anyway if it wasn't cut at all.

People living in the same density of population as they do now. It'll either reach a peak and cause people to create more space around themselves or remain at a peak. So I'd expect people to be intentionally living in smaller communities where they could

Looks from what I was reading earlier that what I was thinking about the bellybutton was right. After birth it no longer serves a purpose and people are already living with smooth indentations there for various medical reasons.
Would be surprised if the level of scarring from most operations didn't drop heavily over the next couple of hundred years, if not sooner. So the idea of a navel would only be kept on for cultural reasons. Expectations of what made one human etc, if those haven't changed massively in the interim.

will be scarcely any trace of early 21st century life extant to 'look weird' becos of rapid obsolescence of media from this era, will be dark age to 31st century historian knobends
