was Grizzly Adams tv show as odd as I remember it?

I watched maybe a decade ago for a few months and it seemed oddly plotless and blissful in a hippie-ish way. Seemed like all he ever did was admire nature and describe it.

The film and TV fictionalized Grizzly Adams portrayed a frontier woodsman who fled into the mountains after he was wrongly accused of murder. While struggling to survive, Adams saves an orphaned grizzly bear cub he adopts and names Ben. The bear, while growing to its huge adult size, becomes Adams's closest companion. Adams discovers and demonstrates an uncanny ability to gain the trust of most of the indigenous wildlife of the region, and he helps, sometimes rescues, takes-in and tames many species. Originally a hunter, with his learned affection for wildlife Adams resolves never to harm another animal whenever possible. In the television series, Adams had two human companions, an old mountain man trader named 'Mad Jack' played by Denver Pyle who was often featured with his mule, ("Number Seven") and a native American by the name of 'Nakoma' played by Don Shanks. Together during each episode, Adams, Mad Jack, and Nakoma helped myriad mountain visitors while protecting wildlife at the same time.

I can imagine it being kind of a stoner favourite. I found it very calming.

I dont think Ive seen this show since I was <10. I wonder if its on YT.

I have a friend that was a photographer in Hollywood back in the 70's and 80's and he saw all kind of crazy stuff and is always telling me stories.

The latest one involved Grizzly Adams, or actually the actor Dan Haggerty. He used to go to the parties where Adams was there and he would be wearing the typical garb like the character. I guess like leather clothing or similar. And he would have his knife. He would pull it out, dip it into his pouch and there would be cocaine on the edge. He would offer it to people and of course the catch was they had to snort it without touching the sharp edge of the knife.

He has all kinds of other stories that I hope to share too.

Oh god... that theme song... the horrible horrible flashbacks... arrrrgh
