I think this is one of the scariest things I've ever stumbled across.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 14 October 2002 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

they are all evil, except the turtle one.

g-kit (g-kit), Monday, 14 October 2002 13:48 (twenty-two years ago)

That turtle one is ugly as hell.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 14 October 2002 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

The gorilla is the ugliest! The bat one qualifies as child abuse, surely?

Plinky (Plinky), Monday, 14 October 2002 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, but ugly doesn't mean evil.... aha!

g-kit (g-kit), Monday, 14 October 2002 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

They *all* qualify as child abuse. Just imagine the problems these kids are going to have in later life when they see these pictures. They're almost equatable in the psyche-damaging stakes to my parents dragging me along to see Little and Large and the Nolan Sisters in pantomime when I was a nipper. Well, I did say almost.

lol p xx, Monday, 14 October 2002 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

The Giraffe and the Big Horned Sheep ones are best.

Graham (graham), Monday, 14 October 2002 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

The owl rocks.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Monday, 14 October 2002 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

radical transhuman body modifications rules!

the Hegemon, Monday, 14 October 2002 15:25 (twenty-two years ago)

"And when I was two, doctor, my mother dressed me as a warthog..."

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 14 October 2002 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

The hippo ought to be labeled as the poster child for a future eating disorder. If it ever loses the excess weight, of course. *insert evil laugh here*

, Monday, 14 October 2002 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh great, DIY Anne Geddes.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 00:59 (twenty-two years ago)

The gorilla looks like Ron Perlman.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

um, do those outfits come in adult sizes? because they are off the hook

boxcubed (boxcubed), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 04:03 (twenty-two years ago)

The Whale!!!! Oh, the Whale.

Mckenzie (Mckenzie), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh, Anne Geddes is the devil.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 12:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Why do I have a feeling that Momus won't come on this thread saying things like: Given the option of somehow censoring Anne Geddes or hoping that the cute hell-dilution process works, a concern for the freedom of expression should always make us choose the latter.

Nicole (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 12:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I had no idea all those flower baby pictures were all down to one woman, it's disturbing, it's beyond twee!

Plinky (Plinky), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Ann Geddes may not be satan himself, but she is certainly one of little wizards.

RickyT (RickyT), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm the most cycnical person I ever met but I think they're cute as hell. The Rhino is adorable.
And that Rhino really does look like Ron Perlman -- scary!
(Thanks for putting this up, Dan)

mr lovepants, Tuesday, 15 October 2002 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

(oops .. meant the gorilla)

mr lovepants, Tuesday, 15 October 2002 18:46 (twenty-two years ago)

All gorillas look like Ron Perlman. It's in their contracts.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Ron Perlman broke the gorilla mold and all great apes must catch up in their own way.

(Being less evil: Ron Perlman in The City of Lost Children = pretty damn wonderful)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

*realizes Anne Geddes is an unknown quantity in the Nediverse, visits site*

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT OPENING PICTURE. Amniotic fluid as fabric, or vice versa. YARGH.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

What?

Mr Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Now aren't you sorry that you clicked that link?

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

(I love Ron Perlman, too - I didn't remotely intend that as an insult.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I am amazed you didn't know who Anne Geddes is, Ned!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Now aren't you sorry that you clicked that link?

Immeasurably, and yet my scarred and wracked soul will continue.

I am amazed you didn't know who Anne Geddes is, Ned!

Eh? I don't even know how I would have heard of her in the first place!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

She's an "artist" on the level of Thomas Kinkade; I envy anyone who's ignorant of either person.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

She is unbearably twee and wrong = Ned has written a ten-paragraph screed on her evils. OR SO I THOUGHT.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I swear I've never heard of her, Dan! I mean, seriously, where would have I seen her stuff? Give me some context here!

Writing a screed on her evils would mean wanting to look at her work some more, but frankly all the tasteful beige in the background of the pages would hurt my head.

She's an "artist" on the level of Thomas Kinkade; I envy anyone who's ignorant of either person.

Yeouch. You know, there's a Kinkade gallery just some blocks away from where I live. Then again, TBN is also near where I live.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

She had a coffee-table book out several years ago that was inordinately popular. My mom brought it home when it came into her library and asked me what I thought of it. I took one look at the adorable little baby dressed up as a an adorable little ladybug and said, "Jesus wept."

The new photos are even worse, I'll admit. Surely wrapping up a child in gauze and hanging it from the ceiling constitutes abuse?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Only if you hang them by the neck.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)
