Who will survive?!

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 14 October 2002 20:35 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm generally an apples man, I suppose but some of those watery French apples are the fkn worst. And what's with the damn stickers?
And, hey, when you unpeel an orange it always squirts in your eye doesn't it!? Always! Hahaha! Er, except it doesn't. Ah.

DavidM (DavidM), Monday, 14 October 2002 20:51 (twenty-three years ago)

have you ever heard of mulled orange cider?

i rest my case

maura (maura), Monday, 14 October 2002 20:53 (twenty-three years ago)

But it's like comparing two things that aren't really quite the same at all, I don't think I'm getting this across, what do I mean...?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 14 October 2002 21:21 (twenty-three years ago)

apples win for me.
dont like oranges, never have.
they arent as full of vit c as believed, they are sticky, messy, have to be peeled, and they give me sore bones.

donna (donna), Monday, 14 October 2002 21:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Empire apples (hybrid of Macintosh and Red Delicious). Just used 'em in my carrot-ginger soup and they made the thing come alive.

Jody Beth Rosen, Monday, 14 October 2002 22:09 (twenty-three years ago)

i have decided that they are, in fact, one and the same

tangelos

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 00:34 (twenty-three years ago)

apples splatter more spectacularly when thrown against a wall. try it: it's a great way to relieve stress (though not a great contribution to helping solve the world's famine problems, i grant you...god, i sound like bono...where's the nearest wall...)

angelo (angelo), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 01:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Oranges are cheerier! and I eat them more often. But apples make better pies. I don't know why but I just love those numbered produce stickers, so that's bonus points for both. Best oranges = Valencia, best apples = Spartan.

Poppy (poppy), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 01:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Oranges easy.

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 02:24 (twenty-three years ago)

More fiber + more vitamin C = Oranges

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 03:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Oranges vs. Oranga FITE!

The two mean something completely different, you see.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 04:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Oranges make me sneeze :(

C J (C J), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 04:23 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm allergic to oranges and when i come back as a global dictator in my next life i'm making them an illegal commodity...

being caught doing anything with oranges is going to be a crime punishable by death... (insert jokes here about british politicians...)

jayne (jayne), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 08:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I heart Granny Smiths

Plinky (Plinky), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 08:27 (twenty-three years ago)

ILE vs ILM FITE!

a crisp apple and cold water is quite near to heaven

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 21:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Both good for what ya want. That said, I go for tangerine juice in the morning myself.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 22:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't like either one very much, actually.

Rockist Scientist, Tuesday, 15 October 2002 22:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Apples are better cooked, oranges are better raw. A tie!

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 22:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Apple juice is nice. Cider is OK. Orange juice is eh unless you really want it when it's gorgeous. Orange liqueur = TRIPLE SEC if I'm not mistaken, ph34r it!

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 23:03 (twenty-three years ago)

when i really want it = all the time

I had a slice of not-grebt apple pie at an Expensive Restaurant the other night (the skew of menu was "Americana") and it was free so I didn't think much of it but JEE-ma-NEE, if you're going to do something as simple as apple pie the apples GOT to have a little snap or tartness or something besides a desultory pinch of cinammon and sugar FEH! FEH I SAY!

it was also "a la mode" which was sort of insult to injury

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 23:10 (twenty-three years ago)

In order of preference:

1) Clementine
2) Granny Smith apple
3) Blood orange

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 15 October 2002 23:15 (twenty-three years ago)

when i really want it = all the time

SPICY.
