England FTW? Ireland able this year? Scotland to surprise? France to actually turn up? Italy to avoid wooden spoon?

All to be revealed over the next few weeks.

I'm backing Ireland not only out of blind patriotism but also because I think they could have it on them this year.

hyggeligt, Saturday, 14 February 2015 17:46 (eleven years ago)

IN JOE WE TRUST. I havent been too impressed with Ireland last week or that first half performance either tbh but hopefully they'll step it up a gear in the second half.

tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 14 February 2015 17:53 (eleven years ago)

Joe. The man with THE plan.

France are a moving wall. Keeping ball down that end achievement in itself. I think Irish team still a bit nervy given recent returns from injury.

hyggeligt, Saturday, 14 February 2015 17:59 (eleven years ago)

Phew. Those last 20 mins were pretty hairy but job done I guess although not the greatest game I've watched. England must be strong contenders to win the tournament now what with beating Wales in Cardiff. Ewww @ Sexton's eye

tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 14 February 2015 18:52 (eleven years ago)

ireland were weak today but my fairly sure stat is that that's the first time we've ever beaten france back to back in 6n?

joe is god.

Moyes Enthusiast (LocalGarda), Sunday, 15 February 2015 00:34 (eleven years ago)

yeah its must be the first time. panel was a mix of O'Gara stating "hey we beat France, not an easy feat regardless" and Hook's usual (justified in fairness) reticence over praising Ireland's performance. not a lot of try scoring opportunites.

tayto fan (Michael B), Sunday, 15 February 2015 00:44 (eleven years ago)

The Wales Scotland match was a bit disappointing given disallowed try. Hopefully means that when we play Scots they'll still be deflated.

O'Gara's checked suit was playing merry hell with TV. I think he's a good analyst. Hook probably wise to hold back as we've still England which will be really tough.

I doff my cap at sheer not getting it by the Sindo where they had a picture of Sexton with the caption "Je suis Johnny." Remarkable even by their standards.

hyggeligt, Sunday, 15 February 2015 23:18 (eleven years ago)

well done italy! it wasnt pretty but it was exciting cos it was so close all the game.

tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 28 February 2015 16:29 (eleven years ago)

France are very very annoying. It detracts my enjoyment of this a little bit just the underachieving mess they are

Master of Treacle, Saturday, 28 February 2015 23:47 (eleven years ago)

Delighted for Italy!

France are such a mess. Not even a hot mess, just a mess.

Excited for this afternoon. Hoping for Ireland win. Never confident when it comes to these matches, only ever hopeful.

hyggeligt, Sunday, 1 March 2015 09:51 (eleven years ago)

Saint Andre is honestly one of the least convincing coaches I can remember in any sport. He is such a thundering fucking idiot, it does annoy me too. He kept his job after finishing last a couple of years ago, with France. It's beyond belief. Their second 15 could probably win a World Cup if they had a decent boss, let alone their first.

Moyes Enthusiast (LocalGarda), Sunday, 1 March 2015 10:05 (eleven years ago)

Happy with that! Daring to hope for grand slam!

Agreed LocalGarda, it's very confusing fact that he has survived for so long given how bad he is.

hyggeligt, Sunday, 1 March 2015 16:45 (eleven years ago)

Much more comfortable victory than I was expecting - which goes to show how far Ireland have come on. Wales in Cardiff now.....

tayto fan (Michael B), Monday, 2 March 2015 10:23 (eleven years ago)

heady days. joe is reaching jack charlton levels of adulation. such a gent as well. they were so good yesterday, and they haven't even got up to full capacity yet, i don't think. wales and scotland will still be tough trips, but the chance of a slam is so exciting.

Moyes Enthusiast (LocalGarda), Monday, 2 March 2015 10:26 (eleven years ago)

Sexton a worry though. He's really come on. A really great player.

hyggeligt, Monday, 2 March 2015 20:29 (eleven years ago)

two weeks pass...

I didn't think Ireland would beat the Scots by such a margin. Great stuff. Ok then ALLEZ LES BLEUS!

tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 21 March 2015 16:36 (eleven years ago)

Scotland poor and I think our penalty kicking display is gonna haunt us

post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Saturday, 21 March 2015 16:42 (eleven years ago)

My interest in the Six Nations doesn't stretch much further than hoping England get beat tbh, I need hardly point out that today is no exception.

post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Saturday, 21 March 2015 18:28 (eleven years ago)

French have missed a hatful of kicks in this match, could be 41 each easily.

Betel-chewing Equipment of East New Guinea (Tom D.), Saturday, 21 March 2015 18:34 (eleven years ago)

fuck this imo

post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Saturday, 21 March 2015 18:49 (eleven years ago)

French and irish kicking should have put this out of sight.

post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Saturday, 21 March 2015 18:51 (eleven years ago)

Thank fuck.

Betel-chewing Equipment of East New Guinea (Tom D.), Saturday, 21 March 2015 18:55 (eleven years ago)

post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Saturday, 21 March 2015 18:56 (eleven years ago)

It's a pity we didn't win the grand slam but I think it will make a better team out of them tbh

tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 21 March 2015 19:27 (eleven years ago)

Great to have won but I agree Michael B., it'll help you team maybe get more realistic focus for world cup.

Time for the Auld Alliance to kick in and for Scotland to do the decent thing and lay down and die.

Please play Lou Reed's irritating guitar sounds (Tom D.), Saturday, 15 March 2025 18:43 (one year ago)

We were completely out muscled but fuck me, every single rub of the green went their way today xps

groovypanda, Saturday, 15 March 2025 18:53 (one year ago)

Scotland need to have a word with themselves at HT and realise just what's at stake

id no idea ireland werent clear in second and in the running here woth a France loss, had to change nationalities at half time

tuah dé danann (darraghmac), Saturday, 15 March 2025 21:16 (one year ago)

Scots hugely impressive so far but think France's bench might swing things

Lovin' it.

The Olde, Old, Very Olde Man. (Tom D.), Saturday, 14 February 2026 18:24 (two months ago)

That was more enjoyable than last week.

ailsa, Saturday, 14 February 2026 18:41 (two months ago)

I think they might seriously have to think about replacing Wales with a more competitive nation.

The Olde, Old, Very Olde Man. (Tom D.), Sunday, 15 February 2026 18:58 (two months ago)

England did their usual "we won a game now we are the greatest sports team of all time"

LocalGarda, Sunday, 15 February 2026 18:59 (two months ago)

Regular as clockwork.

The Olde, Old, Very Olde Man. (Tom D.), Sunday, 15 February 2026 19:31 (two months ago)

Long way to go but it's all going swimmingly.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 21 February 2026 14:47 (two months ago)

tbf England are probably deeply affected by the Reform/Restore fighting this month

podcast Diderot (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 21 February 2026 14:49 (two months ago)

England getting mollicated here.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 21 February 2026 14:52 (two months ago)

This is fun. I dunno if it proves anything other than how shite Wales are

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Saturday, 21 February 2026 15:43 (two months ago)

And, yet again, England aren't as good as we keep getting told they are.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 21 February 2026 15:58 (two months ago)

A shocking development

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Saturday, 21 February 2026 16:14 (two months ago)

I dunno if it proves anything other than how shite Wales are

Shite enough that Scotland can still contrive to lose to them.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 21 February 2026 17:17 (two months ago)

England getting mollicated here.

"come on lads, we'll do this for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor"

calzino, Saturday, 21 February 2026 18:01 (two months ago)

What's with rugby players and mullets?

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 21 February 2026 18:30 (two months ago)

Absolutely amazing day for Ireland. England been giving it the big one even more than usual and got completely pumped for the second week in a row.

Away to France and Italy now, good luck England.

Whatever happens rest of the tournament that's an all-time good day for Ireland.

LocalGarda, Saturday, 21 February 2026 19:02 (two months ago)

Wales kinda lol but mostly sad

podcast Diderot (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 21 February 2026 19:05 (two months ago)

Some serious hits in this Ireland Wales game so far

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Friday, 6 March 2026 20:37 (one month ago)

LOL what a try by the fat lad.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Friday, 6 March 2026 20:56 (one month ago)

Hold on, Scotland might win this thing you know. Always amazing given how few people actually play rugby in Scotland.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 7 March 2026 15:21 (one month ago)

This is hilarious. France been absolutely abysmal but Scotland been great also.

LocalGarda, Saturday, 7 March 2026 15:31 (one month ago)

Yes, France have been terrible.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 7 March 2026 15:32 (one month ago)

It's a massacre.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 7 March 2026 15:35 (one month ago)

This tournament has got exciting now. France were running away with it there.

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Saturday, 7 March 2026 15:36 (one month ago)

Seven tries and there's still 15 minutes to go.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 7 March 2026 15:36 (one month ago)

How can they be so bad and so mentally weak when they have so much talent? Apart from their spoofer coach I guess.

LocalGarda, Saturday, 7 March 2026 15:39 (one month ago)

This is "oh wow" stuff so of course the co-commentator is still wanking on about England

podcast Diderot (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 March 2026 15:54 (one month ago)

50-40!

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 7 March 2026 15:57 (one month ago)

Mad game.

Just need Italy to beat England now.

LocalGarda, Saturday, 7 March 2026 16:09 (one month ago)

Fairly uninspiring stuff so far from two of the weaker nations in the tournament.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 7 March 2026 17:03 (one month ago)

Italy are good now they should be beating these :D

LocalGarda, Saturday, 7 March 2026 17:32 (one month ago)

LocalGarda, Saturday, 7 March 2026 18:39 (one month ago)

I'm enjoying reading this, that's for sure.

England who, in certain positions, have good players coming out of their cauliflower ears. Take the back row where Ben Earl, among the standouts of the opening round, is having to fight like hell to start ahead of Henry Pollock, Tom Curry and others. “You look at that England A game on Friday night and think: ‘God, they could all play for this team.’ That’s how good the English sphere is at the moment,” Earl said. “It’s only making us better.”

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 7 March 2026 18:41 (one month ago)

It's lads like those that really put the umami in England-hating

podcast Diderot (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 March 2026 19:02 (one month ago)

You love to see it

groovypanda, Saturday, 7 March 2026 19:11 (one month ago)

This also a good read

Matt Dawson | Grand Slam should be seen as stepping stone

groovypanda, Saturday, 7 March 2026 19:12 (one month ago)

They never learn do they?

It's obvious this England team has moved on and developed over the past two years.

The style of rugby is significantly different, and it's becoming very hard to play against.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 7 March 2026 19:19 (one month ago)

Even for England rugby it's hilarious. From the usual here we go shite to their worst ever defeat against Ireland at home, an absolute shoeing by Scotland which tbf is a regular occurrence away, and their first ever loss to Italy. Wales have their issues but they're improving, England prob lucky they played then first. This 6N is a bit mad but a raging France away next weekend isn't the soothing balm I'd want if I was English.

LocalGarda, Saturday, 7 March 2026 22:29 (one month ago)

In a weird way, I would actually like England to lose a game at some point, because what you don't want is their first loss coming in a World Cup knockout match.

Wow, things couldn't be going any better!

LocalGarda, Saturday, 7 March 2026 22:38 (one month ago)

That was fun. Sorry Scotland.

LocalGarda, Saturday, 14 March 2026 16:00 (one month ago)

Scotland never beat Ireland in Ireland so wasn't expecting too much from that game tbh.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 14 March 2026 16:17 (one month ago)

I felt during the week with the two bigger lads injured Ireland would prob be okay. Brilliant game tho. Now to cheer on England, lol.

LocalGarda, Saturday, 14 March 2026 17:30 (one month ago)

Don't think there's any chance they could finish bottom but it'll be a close run thing.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 14 March 2026 17:49 (one month ago)

We annoyingly (foolishly) didn't take the 3 points late on last week to secure the losing BP otherwise England would be in real danger of finishing bottom

groovypanda, Saturday, 14 March 2026 18:01 (one month ago)

This Six Nations has been insane from start to finish.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 14 March 2026 21:55 (one month ago)

can't believe England have won the tournament

podcast Diderot (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 14 March 2026 22:01 (one month ago)

All down to one kick.

Schlub 7 (Tom D.), Saturday, 14 March 2026 22:03 (one month ago)

brutal

podcast Diderot (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 14 March 2026 22:04 (one month ago)

Amazing game. And yeah, prob best 6N I can remember.
