from a pretty depressing fortune magazine article on the financial fucking of generation x:

"At a recent Department of Labor summit, a group of the country's top economists, politicians, and marketers decided that the best way to get Generation X to plan for retirement was through targeted advertising campaigns. Slogans included "It's your money, it's your choice, and it's your future," "Save for independence day," and "Wazzup.""

Just 'splain to our dopey ADD-addled asses that Roth IRAs are godsends, and keep the slogans for the next hott WB sitcom, thank ye.

well, i voted for the young candidate in my consituency in the last general election. his election leaflet listed 'drum and bass dj' under his interests.

exactly 300 other people in the local area had the same idea, enough for him to come last by some considerable margin. oh um. (actually, he beat the pro-life candidate)

This is quite a coincidence, because I am running for California senate. I am not a resident of California, and I have only visited the state twice, briefly--but I promise, I CARE about California's future!

"Well, we don't pay you kids shit, and to live decently you have to rob from yourselves twice on our credit cards. So cut out a portion of your wage (the chunk you eat on, say) and put in on the MARKET so we can skim it YET AGAIN and MAYBE you'll have enough to live on when your geriatric ass is worth less than nothing! Wazzup!"

I read this too, it's such a depressing article. I guess the good thing about the likelihood of a nuclear war is not having to worry about being old and decrepit and still being broke.
