Rugby World Cup 2015: No haters please, I've heard it all already

This thread will probably consist of Ronan and I and maybe the odd person really. I'm tipping Australia to win the tournament. They seem to be the form team and they won the 4 Nations. All Blacks always there too. Irish optimism kinda fading with recent performances. QF will be embarrasing but SF placing will be a triumph. I cant see further than that for us tbh. It all hinges on that France game and who knows how they will play. I read something recently that theyve their eye on it the big one, hence a shit Six Nations.

TV3 coverage is off to a shitty start. 3 commentators and then an ad break for the Fijian haka. Clowns.

tayto fan (Michael B), Friday, 18 September 2015 20:49 (ten years ago)

hate rugby fyi. will check in if I can get a chance.

deejerk reactions (darraghmac), Friday, 18 September 2015 21:26 (ten years ago)

TV3 sounds better than ITV at least - I like Stuart Barnes, though I may be in the minority there. Also I heard TV3 have Murray Kinsella on - never heard him speak but his analysis is brilliant.

England pretty poor tonight. Wales and Australia will really fancy beating them after seeing that.

Tough luck Fiji. They played a good game. Lots of turnovers. Wales wont get it easy off em although they are alerted now

tayto fan (Michael B), Friday, 18 September 2015 22:50 (ten years ago)

yeah they did some of the more difficult things so well, like turning the ball over, slowing opposition ball, and scrummaging.

but their basics were p awful. people used to say joe schmidt wanted to make his leinster team the best passing team in the world - that fiji team looked like the worst passing team in the world.

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Friday, 18 September 2015 22:54 (ten years ago)

clicking into gear nicely now

Number None, Saturday, 19 September 2015 14:05 (ten years ago)

Amazing win for Georgia earlier.

I wear my Redditor loathing with pride (ShariVari), Saturday, 19 September 2015 14:10 (ten years ago)

Yeah Ireland looking ruthless

tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 19 September 2015 14:22 (ten years ago)

10 mins to go and Japan are level with South Africa. Japan just scored the try of the tournament so far.

tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 19 September 2015 17:26 (ten years ago)

Unbelievable Jeff

tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 19 September 2015 17:46 (ten years ago)

tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 19 September 2015 22:52 (ten years ago)

that was so absolutely amazing. japan were brilliant. that try off the lineout was such a beautiful move - like something joe would have ireland do.

ireland looked good yesterday, good enough to make me think nobody was trying a damn in the warm-ups. sexton in particular looked like a different player. henderson could be the star of the tournament.

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Sunday, 20 September 2015 10:37 (ten years ago)

still dying of laughter here

great times

Eric Banta (King Boy Pato), Sunday, 20 September 2015 11:22 (ten years ago)

otm - couldn't have happened to a nicer team than south africa - such a lovely bunch.

doing my Objectives, handling some intense stuff (LocalGarda), Sunday, 20 September 2015 11:33 (ten years ago)

Nobody is showing early matches in Boston. It is criminal.

Allen (etaeoe), Sunday, 20 September 2015 13:53 (ten years ago)

(xp) apart from England, of course.

Fields of Fat Henry (Tom D.), Sunday, 20 September 2015 14:02 (ten years ago)

this is close.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 26 September 2015 20:21 (ten years ago)

Eng were pretty much coasting (apart from maybe the last 10 mins of the 1st half) but now boot on the other etc.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 26 September 2015 20:21 (ten years ago)

omg!!

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 26 September 2015 20:42 (ten years ago)

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 26 September 2015 20:44 (ten years ago)

nameReinhard Gruhl/name (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 26 September 2015 20:54 (ten years ago)

How the fuck did Wales pull that out, really just watching Eng being in control for most of it.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 26 September 2015 20:54 (ten years ago)

only really saw the last 20 minutes, even from there this was a real turnaround

nameReinhard Gruhl/name (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 26 September 2015 20:59 (ten years ago)

yeah wtf. I still think England will get through

Neil S, Saturday, 26 September 2015 21:00 (ten years ago)

tayto fan (Michael B), Sunday, 27 September 2015 15:11 (ten years ago)

Amazing try by Scotland a few minutes ago. Game on here

tayto fan (Michael B), Saturday, 3 October 2015 17:09 (ten years ago)

SA then went on to shut up shop, 10 mins left.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 October 2015 17:27 (ten years ago)

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 October 2015 17:30 (ten years ago)

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 3 October 2015 18:03 (ten years ago)

Aussies all over Eng.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 October 2015 19:10 (ten years ago)

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 October 2015 19:21 (ten years ago)

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 October 2015 19:24 (ten years ago)

and one more.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 October 2015 19:39 (ten years ago)

Eng on their way out, a couple of turnovers and then aus cutting them open.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 October 2015 19:40 (ten years ago)

Gonna spend half-time watching Jose's monologue brb.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 October 2015 19:50 (ten years ago)

England being the first host nation ever to go out at the group stage is a prospect to delicious to contemplate.

Terry Micawber (Tom D.), Saturday, 3 October 2015 19:52 (ten years ago)

13-20 w/15 mins, actually quite good as a match.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 October 2015 20:32 (ten years ago)

now.

But come on Aus, lets be professional about this.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 October 2015 20:33 (ten years ago)

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 19:42 (two years ago)

great half but if we play like this in the second i think we'll be left well behind by the whistle

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 19:43 (two years ago)

xp I get the feeling Sexton doesn't have the greatest faith in him either from earlier interactions, none of this "yes sir" shite

no gap tree for old men (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 14 October 2023 19:44 (two years ago)

ireland has a rich and tragic history and wayne barnes is about 1% of it all by himself

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 19:46 (two years ago)

been a fantastic battle and starting the same way this half

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:01 (two years ago)

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:15 (two years ago)

yep nerveless

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:17 (two years ago)

Ireland going too far too fast and losing nerve I think...

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:21 (two years ago)

And Sexton misses it..

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:22 (two years ago)

couple of poor decisions, trying to force the game far too early i thought

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:24 (two years ago)

that was close to a turnover, which nz have done brilliantly all night

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:27 (two years ago)

Good time to win a lineout

Ooh shit and a yellow for NZ

no gap tree for old men (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:28 (two years ago)

definitely Ireland need to put the squeeze on now rather than looking for those Hollywood passes

no gap tree for old men (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:29 (two years ago)

wéan na bearnaí

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:29 (two years ago)

xp keenan and lowe not *quite* penetrating with their runs like in other games and i think it is showing that we dont quite have the backup plan we thought

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:30 (two years ago)

Come on ffs

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:31 (two years ago)

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:33 (two years ago)

no gap tree for old men (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:35 (two years ago)

Ireland just cannot be ahead

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:37 (two years ago)

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:37 (two years ago)

Wow

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:38 (two years ago)

doris having a very poor game

no need at all to rush for the line there eithere

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:39 (two years ago)

right winner

we should have played that running pressure aftwr the second yellow

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:51 (two years ago)

Just breaking

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 14 October 2023 20:51 (two years ago)

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 15 October 2023 19:09 (two years ago)

Jesus this is incredible by both of them

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 15 October 2023 19:11 (two years ago)

This is shaping up to be even better than yesterdays game. I don't think I've ever seen a player block a conversion before.

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Sunday, 15 October 2023 19:27 (two years ago)

No not have I

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 15 October 2023 19:29 (two years ago)

God this intensity, out of this world

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 15 October 2023 19:31 (two years ago)

Yeah, this is just insane. Can't see how they can keep this level up second half though

groovypanda, Sunday, 15 October 2023 19:41 (two years ago)

looks like bad news for sa here

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 October 2023 19:42 (two years ago)

the tackle into bundee's head yesterday not worth that attn i note

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 October 2023 19:43 (two years ago)

The cards seems to have been massivly inconsistent the last few weeks, especially after all the reds in the opening matches.

groovypanda, Sunday, 15 October 2023 19:46 (two years ago)

SA have seen the sin bin off..

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 15 October 2023 20:11 (two years ago)

these down to the wire finishes are brutal

no gap tree for old men (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 October 2023 20:48 (two years ago)

So then, SA or NZ

ffs

no gap tree for old men (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 October 2023 20:54 (two years ago)

Sensational

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 15 October 2023 20:55 (two years ago)

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Sunday, 15 October 2023 20:59 (two years ago)

Don't think the ABs will live with the Boks' pack

groovypanda, Sunday, 15 October 2023 21:08 (two years ago)

same i dont see nz running through against them for easy scores like they did against us

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 October 2023 21:58 (two years ago)

I don’t have much to say other than this has been the best tournament of my lifetime. Absolutely insane play.

Allen (etaeoe), Monday, 16 October 2023 13:01 (two years ago)
