Life is messy, but your home doesn't have to be.

Do you think that would be a good tagline for Target?

not bad I guess. although I feel like maybe I've heard/seen the sentiment "life is messy" a few too many times already.

another problem I have with the tagline is that the messiness of your home has ~ 99% to do with effort and 1% to do with products/systems/anything you could ring up at Target. I was looking at a California Closets ad the other day thinking the same thing. I could fuck up a California Closet pretty quick.

i see your point...

of course an ad's bearing on reality has little to do with its effectiveness

One of the openers for Louis CK, whose name escapes me, had a good line about home organizing schemes. Something like "I hired a personal organizer, and she told me I should take all of the clothing in my closet and turn all of the hangers in the same direction. Then, each time I wear an item, I should turn the hanger the opposite direction. At the end of a year, any hangers still facing the same direction are articles of clothing I should throw away. Well let me tell you, if you can follow that system, you do not need a personal organizer, because you are already the most organized person on the planet."
