fuck everyone who doesn't vote trumpet

sarahell, Monday, 19 October 2015 00:33 (nine years ago)

there is also a 2020s decade portal but it doesn't have an icon yet if anyone wants to brainstorm some ideas

The Twenty Twenties are the future decade. They start at January 1 2020 and end at December 31 2029. Not much is known of The Twenties because it didn't even happen yet.

Good idea to brainstorm for 2020s icon. Since it's wikipedia we could feasibly add it and see how long it lasts

Maybe if we cant agree on an idea we could go with a hellish version of the rubix cube

The Once-ler, Monday, 19 October 2015 02:46 (nine years ago)

Maybe some sort of alien tech would make a good icon

The Once-ler, Monday, 19 October 2015 02:48 (nine years ago)

That fucking flower-power VW bug may be impossible to mistake for any decade but the 60s, but it has about as much to do with the events and emotions of that decade as a propeller beanie.

iPhone 5 obvs

voted rubiks cube

its funny how good of an 80s signifier they are! i think its because they're so totally ephemeral but they seem kind of keyed in to 80s aesthetics (in palette, in sleekness-but-blockiness) in a way that idk a furby doesn't really stand for its moment

best thing about the trumpet is its caption positioning in the poll options, like it looks like it is trumpeting "1920s", sorta like a cartoon gun shooting bang

crime breeze (schlump), Monday, 19 October 2015 06:12 (nine years ago)

I voted for trumpet because sarahell told unregistered to vote for trumpet

The Once-ler, Monday, 19 October 2015 14:10 (nine years ago)

the Arabic language wikipedia has different icons for the 2000s and 2010s decade portals

a different ipod for the 2000s: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/36/Gnome-dev-ipod.svg/70px-Gnome-dev-ipod.svg.png

and a nokia lumia for the 2010s: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/08/Nokia_Lumia_1020_Front.svg/38px-Nokia_Lumia_1020_Front.svg.png

the portal icons for the 1930s and 40s were too depressing, so they just left them out i guess

1999 ball boy (Karl Malone), Monday, 19 October 2015 18:52 (nine years ago)
