mark s (mark s), Saturday, 19 October 2002 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I told you about my bygumps.

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 19 October 2002 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

yes but you didn't say s/he was imaginary so i assumed it was a real pet panda

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 19 October 2002 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I thought it was real (the panda exists) but I think Bygumps started out as imaginary and then then panda gave him form.

Not David here, but Sally. Apparently I told a lady off for sitting on my imaginary friend on the bus, and then, fickle as I am, I left her at the seaside one day and she was never seen again.

I had a whole gaggle of imaginary folk what lived in the bushes around my house. They all had fun hippy-trippy names. (and they're still there....muhahaha!)

Gaggy and Blinker Norton - they were from Toronto. I was six or seven. I think they were firemen, but Gaggy used to *start* fires and Blinker would put them out.

The last time I told someone about this I was teased about it for weeks. I'd be disappointed if that didn't happen all over again.

i had a kitten which had to be accomodated at all times by the rest of my family. my niece had a friend called 'sandy aigo' ( she lives in nz btw ), sandy had a sister called 'miss aigo' and their grandmother ( dont recall her name ) drove them around to wherever my niece went.

I used to pretend that I had an imaginary friend: I didn't, in fact, have any interest in him nor any interest in inventing any back story or other details about him other than his name, Steve Durkumzer. I simply asserted the fact of his exstence to my amused parents. I think that I just liked the sound of the name, and the fact that my parents enjoyed thinking that I did, in fact, have an imaginary friend.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 20 October 2002 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you suspect mark s of actually being your mother?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 21 October 2002 12:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Sam (chirombo), Monday, 21 October 2002 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

minnie banister s (mark s), Monday, 21 October 2002 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I would be much happier with Mark S as my mommy, that's for sure.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

my imaginary friends are collectively known as ilx! say hello to them!

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I never had imaginary friends, but I convinced my little sister that I did. I would go into the closet, shut the door, and come out with different clothes on. I then told her I was Sarah's twin from Secret Friend Land. For some reason that involved having a British accent. Anyway, while Sarah was visiting S.F.L., I could be hanging out in the real world, but we could never be seen in the same place at the same time. When she got too old for that game, I let her in on my secret. Then the two of us would play the same trick on our youngest sister.

seventeen years pass...

my neigbhour totoro sent me looking to see if there was an "imaginary friends" and of course there is and of course it was started by me lol

i just texted my sister to ask her if "teethus" (soft "th") was hers or mine, but the answer's right there in the OP (memory going i guess)

I wonder if all the I had/have an imaginary friend people are also the same ones who can easily mentally visualize things as actual images. The whole concept has always seemed strange to me. I’d have to do so much conscious imaging that it could never feel like a separate entity.
