I don't watch awards shows often but this was just excruciating. barely any thank you speeches/award presentation "bits" that didn't make me hate the people on stage.

i find the use of the word "ghetto" meaning cheap, inferior, sketchy etc. deeply objectionable. the use of it to mean something that is isolated or set-apart - such as movie music within the wider context of music - i find hard to take too much issue with. although when i hear ghetto i think jewish ghetto more than anything else

also - when lady gaga won that award the atmosphere was positively toxic. as she walked to the stage we see dicaprio sniggering about it, she then bumps into him slightly and he makes a mock wide-eyed surprise expression then more giggling. I mean im sure lady gaga in American horror story hotel is not really worthy of any sort of award but are you affecting shock and condemnation that a golden globe hasn't gone to a sufficiently worthy thespian? get a grip.

the show also seems almost not really to be a spectacle for public enjoyment, it's an industry awards show that just happens to be televised because the people involved are famous. so we get all the weird drink and drug affected behavior, the in-jokes, the uncomfortable interpersonal dynamics that we're not party to, and it's a strange, disquieting viewing experience (imo)

Pretty sure Leo had no idea what was going on and was just goofing around with his table, then you see in the clip Gaga kind of strolls through and lifts his arm like a toll gate, and he's suddenly broken from his goofing around, peaks over and makes an immature "whoops" face like, oh, sorry, didn't see you back there, whoever you are (turns back to table with 'get a load of this jerk' look).
