anybody else had recurring dreams that lasted many years in similar shapes/forms?
i've had one for about the last eight years involving me being in my last year of college and needing to pass 3 of my 5 classes to get my Bachelor's. but I keep skipping two of the classes, for so long that I no longer know what days they meet or where in the building they are, and I can never find out how to get a new schedule. there was a year in college that I was severely depressed and broke and almost dropped out, and did essentially the same thing - one of the teachers whose class I skipped often shows up.
so share here your recurring dreams, how long they've lasted, and uhhhh try to interpret? idk

Recently I've been having a recurring dream that I'm a schoolboy back in my old secondary school, and that I keep fucking up, mainly in science class, over and over again. Oh and the school is populated not by my teenage classmates, but by my present day colleagues. Which is probably a big clue as to that these dreams are really about.

that you accidentally changed the schoolkids into grown men due to a fucked up science experiment?

I have no recurring dreams, but the landscape of my dreaming does evolve and integrate over time. During several periods of my life, I've had frequent dreams taking place in a city that's roughly analagous to one in which I used to live. At first I won't really notice anything larger than the immediate territory of this or or that dream, but as the dreams begin to pile up, I'll become increasingly familiar with cerain key transitional areas that I find myself visiting over and over again. Eventually, I'll come to understand how a broad patchwork of seemingly disconnected places fits together into a semi-consistent whole. I'll be aware of this both while dreaming and when awake, reflecting back on recent dreams.
The city of my dreams used to be Spokane, Washington, where I spent my teenage years. Lately it's Seattle.

I think these dreams about being back in school and failing some course due to random screw ups must be extremely common, I've had many of these myself.
Also, similar to contenderizer, I have recurring city-scape dreams where the spatial geography has particular significance and I'm constantly revisiting similar types of businesses, usually ones connected to either food or sex. The cities in my dreams are usually either Boston or NYC.

Recurring Dreams is my favorite Crowded House obscurity.

the only diff between this school dream and the usual is that I was also helping someone sell coke and he killed a competitor (a professor) and we hid their body in the wall panel of the classroom

there's a recurring setting in my dreams that i can't really describe well because it fades from my memory too fast every time but it's some sort of rural farmhouse/dormitory complex, a massive old house in the woods with dozens of rooms where myself and the changing cast of characters from these dreams live

I had a recurring dream that cropped up in two periods of my life, once when I was a kid and then again when I was in my mid-20s (I had forgotten it in-between but as soon as it started happening again I remembered having had it multiple times before).
It always starts off with me playing in a sandpit, intently looking down at whatever I'm playing with or building in sand. Then at some point I look up and a) the sandpit is fucking huge, and b) it is enclosed, either with fences w/ barbed wire at the top or in a cage. The only way out is a super-creepy door leading to a horrible mansion-type place so I obviously go in, duh. Inside is basically an enormous maze and then it just turns into variations on a chase dream.
This is probably ridiculous in its heavy-handed symbolism.
