No, really. I'm in the Vibe Bar. They've got internet terminals in here. What are they thinking? Do they know the sort of trouble people could get in if they post drunk?

Not that I'm drunk. Sigh. Trendy bars are no fun when you're sober.

Entertain me. The pretentious writers have finished reading and the pretentious band hasn't started yet.

Ha - is the Vibe bar still trendy? I remember emailing from there many moons ago and how exciting it was.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 21 October 2002 18:30 (twenty-three years ago)

My local pub is now a ... TRENDY WINE BAR!!!

It's so not exciting in here. It is in fact utter pants. But my housemate's friends are reading and stuff.

kate, Monday, 21 October 2002 18:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Kate, I knew this was one of your threads before I even opened it!

For your entertainment.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 21 October 2002 18:33 (twenty-three years ago)

Come on. Other people live/work/play in Shoreditch except me.

The band has started. One of them is playing a computer. This must stop.

kate, Monday, 21 October 2002 18:41 (twenty-three years ago)

actually, I take that back. They've got a real bassist and they're really rather kind of OK for having a computer in them. They're called Sub Rosa and they're a bit, erm ... GROOVY. Yeah, that's the word.

kate, Monday, 21 October 2002 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Kate's next move is a techno sideproject, Drone Disco.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 21 October 2002 18:48 (twenty-three years ago)

You said it, boy.

Uh-oh, I've lost my housemate. What have Matt Thorne and Nicolas Blincoe DONE with him? Fuck, if I lose him, I'm DOOMED to artwank...

kate, Monday, 21 October 2002 18:49 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I'm starting to quite like this band. I think I'm going to go and watch them or something. if you can WATCH three blokes noodling away on computers and be entertained...

kate`, Monday, 21 October 2002 18:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh you poor girl. I miss Shoreditch. Home was my haunt.

Gordon (Gordon), Monday, 21 October 2002 18:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I've decided I really like the band. They combine Putor beatz with groovy 60s basslines and psycheedelic guitar. I like them lots.

And my housemate and I just started an imaginary band. We've got totally the diametric opposite tastes in music, so we're going to try and combine them. Hah! How long until we kill each other?

This is the part of Shoreditch that I really hate. Brick Lane, ugh. I have grown to tolerate the TriBeHoxton, but I hate it down here.

Hip-Hopera has already been invented.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 21 October 2002 19:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh my god, the DJ just played Bauhaus. The night gets better by the moment, and I still haven't even had a drop to drink!

I was in the loo, and I heard the bassline, and I just KNEW it was Bela Lugosi's Dead. Best. Bassline. Ever.

kate, Monday, 21 October 2002 19:38 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
It's really not that bad. Besides, all the hipsters are moving down to New Cross I hear. New Cross!

adam. (nordicskilla), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Am I a hipster?

adam. (nordicskilla), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been to Shoreditch twice in the past month, and it annoyed me to the point of homicidal rage. I really just can't take it any more. I can't believe I ever used to live there.

South London is the new North London, oh my...

The 120 Days Of Streatham (kate), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

When I went, there was a ghost train. And a shop that sold Choppers and BMXs as well as Junior Boys cds. Brilliant!

adam. (nordicskilla), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha ha, I know a very funny story behind that Ghost Train but it would involve slagging off my ex boyfriend, so I will refrain from sharing.

The 120 Days Of Streatham (kate), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

New Cross is too far away from the centre of town to attract the real hipsters. Its always been an arty/creative centre because it has Goldsmiths College slap bang in the middle of it. Its like going "ooh, Blackheath is the new Hampstead" and expecting people to take you seriously.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, its been scientifically proven that everywhere in London is "the new Hoxton". Including CROUCH END!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

i've warmed to it since actually working in the area - i still don't hang out in it much but have been able to notice the lovely buildings more.

teh pow! (blueski), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I could make a comment about "blackheath is the new hampstead" but that would also involve slagging off the same ex boyfriend, la la la la laaaa, maybe some naked boy photos would be better instead

aaaaah, that's much better.

The 120 Days Of Streatham (kate), Monday, 20 September 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

That does not sell me on anything.

adam. (nordicskilla), Monday, 20 September 2004 14:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Not even nipple greasing lotion?

The 120 Days Of Streatham (kate), Monday, 20 September 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

The day I grease my nipples is the day...

adam. (nordicskilla), Monday, 20 September 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

...you come down for an LA FAP and we verify.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 September 2004 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I WISH I could, Ned.

(FAP that is)

adam. (nordicskilla), Monday, 20 September 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

You wish you could grease your nipples? What?

The 120 Days Of Streatham (kate), Monday, 20 September 2004 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

We always wish Adam could grease his nipples.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 20 September 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)
