Who are you selling this data to?

Blowout Coombes (President Keyes), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 17:30 (nine years ago)

Way to marginalize us septuagenarians, bro.

You're A Peein' Youth In Asia (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 17:32 (nine years ago)

I should box your ears or touch you with the waxy end of my earhorn.

You're A Peein' Youth In Asia (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 17:32 (nine years ago)

Five years ago at least one vote was cast for age 61 (my current age). No one ever owned up to casting that vote, but if it was honest, then that lurker has been aced out in this poll.

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 17:55 (nine years ago)

I'm curious to see if there's actually anyone in their teens frequenting this place. Not that I doubt the precociousness of the younger set, but there are so many cranky old dudes here I'd think it'd be like hanging out with their dads.

You're A Peein' Youth In Asia (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 17:59 (nine years ago)

(I sometimes forget that there are people who actually like hanging out with their dads.)

You're A Peein' Youth In Asia (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:00 (nine years ago)

whoa apparently i was posting on that 2008 thread, i have no recollection of that. i wish i had said in that thread where i thought i would be today so i could compare/contrast.

yellow despackling power (Will M.), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:10 (nine years ago)

I am now in the bottom half of ages in this poll. I wouldn't mind if I wasn't still so fucking immature.

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:16 (nine years ago)

Cue the usuals who feel marginalised by no option to vote for half-years

nb I am 34 and a half as of Jan 2016

Daithi Bowsie (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:23 (nine years ago)

need a poll of which ilxors we consider ageless

μpright mammal (mh), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:24 (nine years ago)

thanks for reminding me I'm a couple months older than you, darragh

μpright mammal (mh), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:25 (nine years ago)

but really, how are we turning 35 this year, I'm completely confused by the march of time

μpright mammal (mh), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:25 (nine years ago)

I was only reminded cos the Govt made me get health insurance this year

nb my health insurance is like 20 quid a month lol

Daithi Bowsie (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:26 (nine years ago)

per the 2008 poll re: sports players as age mnemonics, i am greg maddux going on sandy koufax

yellow despackling power (Will M.), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:27 (nine years ago)

I discovered a fun trick the other day: divide your age by three, consider that the span of years between now and when you were 2/3 of your current age is the same amount of time between when you were 2/3 of your current age and when you were 1/3 of your current age, figure out how the fuck that's even possible in any kind of rational world where time supposedly moves at a constant and predictable speed.

Fat Idiot (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:30 (nine years ago)

Like, 2/3 of my life ago I was in junior high and 1/3 of my life ago was like last Wednesday or something. What?

Fat Idiot (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:31 (nine years ago)

No that seems about right tbh

Daithi Bowsie (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:32 (nine years ago)

oh that's weird. the amount of time between now and when i was 18 is the same as between when i was 18 and when i was 9(!!!!)

Treeship, Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:33 (nine years ago)

although 18 feels like a long time ago too tbh.

Treeship, Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:34 (nine years ago)

curious to see if this thread even comes close to the previous 250ish responses as last 2 times

yellow despackling power (Will M.), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:39 (nine years ago)

i am younger than Matthew Broderick; otoh, have you seen him lately?

we can be heroes just for about 3.6 seconds (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:41 (nine years ago)

imo life events, other than major ones that weigh on you, tend to take disproportionate weight depending on how much of your life they represented at the time

so a really bad week when you were a child could seem as traumatic in your memory as a really bad six months now

μpright mammal (mh), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:44 (nine years ago)

uh I botched the math there, but you understand what I mean

μpright mammal (mh), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:44 (nine years ago)

A really bad eleven years otoh might only be a fading memory now so there's that

Daithi Bowsie (darraghmac), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 18:46 (nine years ago)

The last third of my life is a total blur and I don't even have a fun excuse like drugs or drink to explain it away. Maybe I'm just now discovering a long bout of early-onset senility.

Fat Idiot (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 19:03 (nine years ago)

consciousness as a gestalt of past experiences, just acting without memory, traversing new experiences according to the knowledge of former actions

μpright mammal (mh), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 19:07 (nine years ago)

most recent third, old lunch

Treeship, Wednesday, 20 April 2016 19:08 (nine years ago)

No, I'm pretty sure it's the last third, alas.

Fat Idiot (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 19:12 (nine years ago)

I thought it was just a nom de plume

μpright mammal (mh), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 19:23 (nine years ago)

My parents knew what was up.

Fat Idiot (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 19:26 (nine years ago)

Was there a reason you picked that date particularly?

Stevolende, Wednesday, 20 April 2016 19:30 (nine years ago)

Because it's traditional to make a note of one's age on Portuguese Labor Day iirc.

Fat Idiot (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 19:33 (nine years ago)

ken c ran the 2008 poll on that date and the results compare better w/ the same date

average male life expectancy where i live is 72 so i'm pretty much middle-aged. surely only disappointment, ill health and the chilling embrace of death await

the world’s youngest hyper-polyglot (bizarro gazzara), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 19:53 (nine years ago)

Damn, when did I become one of the ILX elderly set?

At least I can take comfort that, in terms of demonstrations of maturity, I'm perpetually locked in at around twelve.

Fat Idiot (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 19:56 (nine years ago)

damn, i'm the same age as 2011 iatee

clemenza, Wednesday, 20 April 2016 20:17 (nine years ago)

Wonder if the 2008 one was run on a random date though.
It's just a significant day for me.

I just realized that I've also been hanging out here for almost all of that aforementioned final third of my life.

Just...how.

Fat Idiot (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 20 April 2016 21:27 (nine years ago)

*runs to sink*

I was apparently keeping pace with the average until all of these whippersnappers showed up in their short pants.

Your Ass Is Grass And I Will Mow It With My Face (Old Lunch), Sunday, 1 May 2016 03:07 (nine years ago)

ages 14 through 20 were a shutout, so the whippersnappers aren't all that young. there was one 63 vote, but that ilx methuselah remains a mystery lurker afaik.
