Five years ago at least one vote was cast for age 61 (my current age). No one ever owned up to casting that vote, but if it was honest, then that lurker has been aced out in this poll.

I'm curious to see if there's actually anyone in their teens frequenting this place. Not that I doubt the precociousness of the younger set, but there are so many cranky old dudes here I'd think it'd be like hanging out with their dads.

(I sometimes forget that there are people who actually like hanging out with their dads.)

I discovered a fun trick the other day: divide your age by three, consider that the span of years between now and when you were 2/3 of your current age is the same amount of time between when you were 2/3 of your current age and when you were 1/3 of your current age, figure out how the fuck that's even possible in any kind of rational world where time supposedly moves at a constant and predictable speed.

Like, 2/3 of my life ago I was in junior high and 1/3 of my life ago was like last Wednesday or something. What?

imo life events, other than major ones that weigh on you, tend to take disproportionate weight depending on how much of your life they represented at the time

so a really bad week when you were a child could seem as traumatic in your memory as a really bad six months now

on jan 9, 2016 i was 35

average male life expectancy where i live is 72 so i'm pretty much middle-aged. surely only disappointment, ill health and the chilling embrace of death await
