I can't go into all the shockers right now, but I'll briefly hang my head and confess to having a) bowled a spell of 3-1-41-0, b) been the second dismissed batsman of a hat-trick TWICE, c) effected a 15-yard run-out with my left boot (okay, that was a highlight, and one that will never be topped), d) bowled a spell of 4-0-65-0, after my opening attack had reduced a frankly woeful line-up to 22-5, e) deliberately thrown the ball for four after dropping a catch (my nadir), f) run out my partner, who was innings top-scorer, and holed out to square-leg next ball, g) come out to face the last ball of a match we'd just lost, against an absolute joke-bowler, played a sweep to a donkey-dropper, missed, and been given lbw amidst riotous celebrations, and h) bowled the last over with 10 runs needed against tail-enders, and conceded all 10 after just three balls.

This is one of the funniest fucking things I've ever read. I feel like it's in Esperanto.

Hurling

I like playing badminton probably more than anything else, but as a spectator, baseball. When it means something--I'll get bored too when I don't have a rooting interest. I'm never bored by baseball stats.

Basketball's great if I care; I have dim memories of hockey being great when I cared (40 years ago); never much of a football fan; zero interest in soccer; I'll still watch golf, not as much as when Tiger was winning.

As a participant I always liked to play basketball, but I probably had more fun playing pickup games of volleyball, just as long as the other players knew the real rules and basic techniques, as opposed to just haplessly batting a ball around. As a sport where I passively watch other people play who are hugely more talented than I am, basketball is more fun. Volleyball is a mediocre spectator sport.

A co-worker once tried to make bridge converts out of us--came into the classroom and taught the kids, had after-school sessions for teachers. I didn't take to it at all.

But for some reason, West started with a high spade, and then the timing favored declarer. He was able to set up his long spades and escape for down one. Even minus 200 was a poor result for North-South in theory: East-West seemed to have no game. But in the replay, West played at 3NT, and when North led a diamond, the contract was cold.

My parents taught me bridge, so I know the lingo up to a point. It is more strategic and cerebral than other card games, but a lot more sociable than, say, chess.

In year 10, two boys from my class went to America and returned with two hundred hacky sacks which were then sold to the entire school and it took off in a big way. There is still a sect of proficient hacky sackers floating around East Sussex to this day.
