I would vote for Switzerland. I am probably stuck in the past, now that financing wars of annihilation ain't no biggie these days :p

calzino, Wednesday, 29 June 2016 00:00 (nine years ago)

EU isn't entirely the West. You forgot Switzerland and Norway. Also, combining the Antipodes is ignorant of vastly different policies towards their respective indigenous populations, social democracy, etc.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 29 June 2016 00:08 (nine years ago)

why ruin a post by applying logic to it

F♯ A♯ (∞), Wednesday, 29 June 2016 00:22 (nine years ago)

Yeah theres really no comparing/lumping in AU and NZ. Theyve a much better record on their indigeonous and on immigration as Tom notes (ffs, NZ offered to take all the refugees we've had locked up going mad in PNG for years, and our govt REFUSED TO LET THEM)

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Wednesday, 29 June 2016 00:42 (nine years ago)

Pretty sure it's England, guys.

emil.y, Wednesday, 29 June 2016 00:46 (nine years ago)

Rupert Murdoch is only from one country, also

Ask again in November.

australia + new zealand are just one country i think

schlump, Wednesday, 29 June 2016 01:37 (nine years ago)

aus / nz are literally the same. i am very sorry for leaving out norway and sweden, huge omissions there.

based on the dickweed with the gybe username i'm leaning towards u.s.

riverine (map), Wednesday, 29 June 2016 03:05 (nine years ago)

tbh the uk is responsible for most of the rest of these places so they deserve the credit i think for all assorted anglocrimes

Mordy, Wednesday, 29 June 2016 03:10 (nine years ago)

they've definitely set the bar, but who has exceeded expectations the most this year or very recently? england is up there right now but i don't think the eu or the u.s. are far behind wrt the middle east. australia is pretty bad wrt indigenous treatment, racism and horrible tourists, nz didn't deserve to be lumped in with them it's true. canada is idk.

riverine (map), Wednesday, 29 June 2016 03:21 (nine years ago)

admission accepted

UK in a crisis that will affect the next decades, same goes for EU. The elite/politicians foolish enough to prance around like emperors in new clothes in broad daylight. Far right on the rise. Intolerance. The pact with the devil Turkey to 'solve' our refugee problem (spoiler: Turkey offs refugees at the border so we don't have to dive up the bodies in the Mediteraenean. Shambles. Worst I ever experienced in my lifetime.

And yet the answer to this can only be the US. Good old gun-loving US, forever in a stronghold of the second amendement. With a police force killing black people on an almost industrial, systematic scale and getting away with it. With racism so blatantly obvious in every day life. With prisons absolutely packed. The US of millions of people voting for a clown like Trump. With a SCOTUS still milling over if it's ok for a woman to have an abortion like it's 1850. Still unable to close Guantanamo after all these years because of political deadlock. Open hunting season still for whistleblowers like Snowden, Chelsea Manning already safely tucked away for all of the remainder of her life. And all this despite Obama having been in reign for eight years. It can only get much, much worse. "America I've given you all and now I'm nothing" etc, Allen Ginsberg be praised, Hopeless.

Trenchant social commentary as this may be, this poll is a no-brainer.

oculus lump (contenderizer), Sunday, 3 July 2016 00:59 (nine years ago)

the US trajectory seems to be trending better and UK + EU seem to be trending worse and since UK is partially to blame for the US anyway i've made my choice

Mordy, Sunday, 3 July 2016 01:00 (nine years ago)
