one at a time with no thought to flavor sequence. I'm not enough of a gourmand to sequence correctly or group complementary flavors, but I know it's dangerous to just chomp a random bunch all at once.

but I do love me some jelly beans

Al Moon Faced Poon (Moodles), Saturday, 30 July 2016 22:13 (eight years ago)

2 at a time avoiding only the worst flavor combos

Agreed, 2-3 at a time, aiming for a proper synthesis

remember when jelly belly came out and people were like oooo recipes for ones to eat together
sounded amazing

LIDL does a nice cheap bag of jellybeans which I've tended to take to the cinema with me on recent trips. So just been munching through them without being able to see varieties.

Stevolende, Saturday, 30 July 2016 23:17 (eight years ago)

actually my sequence tends to emphasize contrast rather than like following like. too much alike is why-bother territory

random handfuls, let god sort em out

but sometimes just the black or red ones

I'm colourblind so trying to figure out which jellybean is which is a roulette of taste sensations.

There is a brand which Poundland do in a white bag which are incredible, right now I'm getting through a bag every two days.

this is also a good thread for sharing preferred jellybean brands I guess

I was surprised at how good the Trader Joe's jelly belly knockoffs are. Edge over the standard Jelly Belly variety bag because there's no disgusting peanut butter or buttered popcorn

Skittles are not jellybeans, but I find that techniques tend to carry over from one to the other.

El Tomboto, Friday, 5 August 2016 16:49 (eight years ago)

usually random combinations of the fruity ones, the licorice as a palate-cleanser, then the white ones (whatever they are) for the grand finale.

Technique is much too complicated to explain here.

Jeff, Sunday, 7 August 2016 01:15 (eight years ago)

generally 4 or 5 at a time and let god sort them out

struggle to find good beans that aren't super-priced Jelly Belly variety over here, gonna check out the tips on this thread

El Tomboto, Monday, 8 August 2016 00:11 (eight years ago)

I'm just going to buy one flavor at a time from now on. Unexplored territory.

El Tomboto, Monday, 8 August 2016 00:11 (eight years ago)

eight months pass...

btw "one flavor at a time" fails miserably in my new neighborhood, the grocers around here don't seem to want to let you have that option. disappointing for multiple reasons, the main one being that my occasional jones for licorice jelly bellies just goes completely unanswered

the sour patch kids jellybeans that they make for easter aren't terrible but they all taste alike so it's just three at a time of whatever
