for me, stubbing not my toes but my fingers -- specifically my little fingers
for the last couple months it feels like i can't pass a door or door frame, or reach for a mug or a pan, or just grab up a wet towel, without somehow snagging one of my little fingers on or jabbing it into something resistant in a way that exacerbates the way one or other feels bruised and strained or sightly swollen at the joint (all my other fingers are fine)
maybe i should strap them each to the respective ring finger for a few weeks, to let it get better -- this would mean cutting out playing the piano, which i would miss, but nothing much else (i type with index fingers only)

I have such a wealth of these stories. My most fabled is the one where I cut my finger (pretty badly, too!) on a bagel.

I've only really screwed up one finger in recent years, although stubbing toes is a common occurrence. I do have a bruise under my thumbnail that is slowly growing out.

I knock over mugs and glasses when reaching for them

I walked face-first into the glass in a revolving door recently. Like, I walked into the space the revolving door occupied, knowing full well that it was a revolving door and how revolving doors functioned, and I had used the door in question dozens if not hundreds of times previously, and I still somehow forgot that there was a solid thing in front of me that needed to be pushed instead of walked through. In my defense, the glass was really clean. And also I'm a bird.

I wasn't quite clumsy yesterday but poor planning meant my attempt to stop after running through the rain with groceries to my back door meant I just slid directly into the back door

(taking a break from piano practice for a few days to see what difference it makes)

this finger thing described in the original post, i totally relate to every word. it is comforting to hear someone else give voice to my experience.
i've been trying to train myself to close my fists when i'm sleeping so my pinkies don't get snagged by the bedding.

just managed to re-bash my left pinkie on the floor of the bath, picking up a flannel -- every time i do this it feels like it's undone the few days of resting (and healing?) without accident
how did they suddenly get so fragile and exposed, i went many decades without this being an issue >:(

after years of believing your unique posting style to be a set of studied, personal logographic choices, I don't know quite what to say

Due to an accident many years ago, I have severely reduced feeling in the thumb, index and middle fingers of my left hand, and I always feel like I have to be super careful on the tube in case I leave my hand on a butt/crotch/boob without realising it. (This has happened once or twice and freaked me out, let alone the other person.)
Apart from that somehow managed to push the hand of a tea mug under my thumbnail last week (on my good hand) - cue bleeding and pain.

Bit of name dropping here. During an impromptu game of football, where I was in goal, Damien O'Neill (of the Undertones/ That Petrol Emotion) unleashed an unstoppable shot goalward which I foolishly tried to stop, my thumb got the worst of it and has never been the same since.
