Okay, so this is admittedly somewhat perfunctory and more to sate my anal completest impulses than anything else. The latter half of the '30s seems like a relatively fallow period for horror, but maybe y'all are aware of some secret gems in the rough?

I did see Dracula's Daughter recently. Which I honestly thought was better than Dracula, but that might be damning with faint praise. I was rather surprised by what seemed to be fairly overt lesbian overtones, and was even more surprised to learn that it was intentional and even played up in some of the marketing for the film.

This is not a great list, but I voted for The Wolfman for Lon Chaney Jr's depressed-to-be-a-monster performance and for Maria Ouspenskaya.

TCM just showed The Devil Doll yesterday. It's clever, but the problem is, it's not the slightest bit scary. But this period of time sucked for horror all around
