there's only one channel i obsessively follow and watch every installment of - the one and only MatoJelic - the world's most entertaining chess commentator. he's the boss
i also find allec joshua ibay's flight simulator 2004 plane disaster walkthroughs really compelling, but that's a more recent thing and it's unclear whether i'll still be obsessed a year from now. mato otoh has been my hero since about this time last year and i started this thread because of him
now tell me yours

Sullivan knew he lived in interesting times, and he worked hard to capture more than a video freak-show. He chronicled the rise and fall of many of his friends and peers including, Ethyl Eichelberger, John Sex, Keith Haring, Tom Rubnitz, Michael Alig and countless other denizens of a demimonde being ravaged by AIDS, heroin, and anomie. Sullivan himself died from a heart attack on July 4, 1989, just three days after quitting his full-time job so that he could produce his own cable television show of his footage.

I've actually found a couple of "YouTubers" that are really well done.
Down the Rabbit Hole: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbWcXB0PoqOsAvAdfzWMf0wThis guy mostly does documentaries on weird internet history, but the strictly historical ones he's done are really good, too.
Nerd City: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxsQFG_8Dbt1sZhLReL2mUwThis guy kind of does meta content, commenting and critiquing other YouTubers, but the way he pulls it off is very clever. His latest video is a take down of Jake Paul and it is so incredibly well done.

Kinda feel like Nerd City needs to drop the gimmick, I'm halfway through his Jake Paul video and think it would be much better without all the mugging. I appreciate wanting to avoid just being a dude talking to the camera but his solution's a bit too wacky. Definitley a fascinating glimpse into a very fucked up world tho.
ContraPoints (politics) and LinsdayEllis (film critic) have gotten some acclaim elsewhere here on the boards, deservedly so.
I like Stevem - not, as far as I can tell, the old ILX poster but a dude with a lot of knowledge of Japanese pop music and animation - lots of good stuff on Japanese Jazz, City Pop and animation that's not yr traditional idea of "anime".
I'm kinda addicted to the StrictlyDUMPLINGS! channel - just watching this dude eat his way through buffets across South East Asia. I'm sure there's a million accounts like this but this one's at least well edited and gets to the point without too much self-promotion.
Vinilteca definitley has that dude talking at a camera problem, and it's compounded by there being two of them so whenever one's talking the other has to just stand/sit there, occasionally nodding solemnly to what the other one's saying. That being said they're very helpful at filling in the gaps of my Brazilian music knowledge, kinda like an AMG for the ears. It's in Portuguese tho.

Haha, finally fell for the classic ILX d u m p l i n g s trap.

not sure if anybody here likes asmr, but my absolute favorite asmr channel is indian massage. basically this guy travels thru india and visits barbershops, recording videos of himself getting haircuts and massages (massages are standard in indian barbershops). Unlike a lot of asmr, there's no talking. It's just the ambient noise of a barbershop - scissors scissoring, buzzers buzzing, razors razoring. Usually, these sounds punctuate a never-ending cascade of hustle and bustle murmuring in quietly from outside the shop, which I find extremely pleasant. The haircut videos are my go-to, but the massages are great too. They are pretty brutal tho - the barbers really beat the shit out of you. The climax of the massage (heh) is a violent twist of the head to crack the neck. They also do this thing called "hair cracking" which i dont understand at all, how in the hell can you crack hair? But sure as shit they crack it. It makes a sound like a popping finger.
