Based on three interconnected Alice Munro short stories.

This was great - weirdly enough my Spanish friend looks like the older Julietta, she texted me while I was at the cinema asking to see this w/me.

Anyone else watched it? Screening tonight.

Not often do I wish a film were longer. When it ended at just over 90 minutes I wondered if I was missing a DVD. Anyway, a disappointment. Masterful use of color, and he took a risk with leaving Antia as an offscreen expression of absence and longing, but her story never develops.

one month passes...

otm re color & saturation, I loved this- though his scripts sometimes feel slight as if he's cranking them out like Woody Allen once a year- I wish we had seen Antía, too. still a wonderful movie

i thought the grief was a lil forced idk i feel like ppl may be eager to proclaim this a more mature almodovar but id prefer a lil more levity

the estrangement reminded me of american pastoral a bit

Really loved this.

The colors in the train sequence seemed an explicit nod to Almodovars glory days, but it looked so weird in digital. And then coupled with the obvious fake deer and train. It made me think of the film almost as an elegy for his own career, something a strange amount of Almodovars latest films fall into. I did like it, though.

the deer was so over-the-top bad, almost seemed intentional. but there's been plenty of bad CGI in unlikely places lately (the fire in 'Silence').

It also works because it's a flashback, I think. It looks like a memory, unreal, too vivid.

yes otm
