One of my uncles had no given middle name. When he wrote "None" on forms in the slot for Middle Name he began to receive mail with the middle initial N inserted between his first and last name.

That many notable Es were not included among the choices is inevitable, and is inherent in the poll format. I do not wish to neg ken c - or any pollster - for setting it up according to their own lights.

Nevertheless I squirm internally every time I think of the time I tried to do a poll of bands with "of" in the name (Band of Horses, Of Montreal, Archers of Loaf, etc.), and I was roundly (and rightly) mocked for omitting Gang of Four. "Melissa Of Der Maur" was the best joke answer, iirc.
