Each time a punch lands, an elephant dies.

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Friday, 10 March 2017 23:41 (seven years ago) link

Just watched it again after Veg posted on fb. That last sequence, with the hose/rope/whatever is maniacal in conception. Love it!

Oh, and the luggage gag has made me crack a smile every time.

this looks like a me movie

idk anything about the graphic novel it's based on. anyone familiar?

one interesting thing to me is a few critic reviews namecheck lecarre which srsly is just their terribly lazy shorthand for "spies". there's ~zero~ lecarre here.

william gibson said the trailer's dna is more deighton than fleming, and I def feel that.

four months pass...

One week away.

Will this be the first thing I go to the theater for this year? Yes.

I would really like this to be good but I'm deeply skeptical

Worth it alone for the extended staircase fight/elevator/car chase sequence - as equal in intensity as the long scenes in Children Of Men.

Didn't know it was based on a comic book series.

Also, there's a fight scene in a movie theater playing Stalker

Elvis Telecom, Wednesday, 2 August 2017 18:38 (seven years ago) link

Nonsensical plot, could've had more fight scenes, Sofia Boutella was wasted.

Yeah this kinda sucked.

I didn't make it to the theater over the weekend, and reviews from friends have dampened my enthusiasm. :(

the action is good, the music is placed a little too obviously but decently picked, and the actual plot isn't telegraphed well enough to make the intrigue really stand out

mh, Thursday, 3 August 2017 02:56 (seven years ago) link

spy intrigue not intriguing, I should say

mh, Thursday, 3 August 2017 02:56 (seven years ago) link

Set, setting, and intrigue is about as relevant as a blog theme in this.
