April and May seem like pretty much the same month to me

every other month of the year has its own distinct character, either from a holiday or a clear turning point in the year, or some kind of... numerological clarity i can sense can't put my finger on. but 4 and 5? i have the hardest time thinking of these as anything other than a unified stretch. and i love spring! idgi.

one obvious thing, as an irreligious person, the importance of Easter in April kind of passes me by.

goole, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 16:48 (eight years ago)

Every month is the same. All they are is pain.

(I think I accidentally wrote an emo song, but still...)

emil.y, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 16:51 (eight years ago)

May isn't the cruellest month is how i tell them apart

made me laugh.

hate feb and march. april irritates me - like something about to be spoken well say it then. may seems marginally promising and occasionally pleasant hal-an-tow notwithstanding.

i've been drinking and am a bit bitter tho so spring isn't really top of my list atm.

May is one of the most beautiful and comfortable months in the northern US, April is basically 50s, cloudy and rainy

marcos, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 17:04 (eight years ago)

they're a pair like january and february. march, however, stands alone

flappy bird, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 17:10 (eight years ago)

Nah, May's nicer.

chap, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 17:23 (eight years ago)

a pair like january and february.

This is more true.

generally i agree, but the past couple years they've really blended into each other. i wear a jacket well into may, even into the first week of june

flappy bird, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 17:27 (eight years ago)

may i have april in may

i n f i n i t y (∞), Wednesday, 5 April 2017 17:40 (eight years ago)

My birthday is in may so this is heresy I say heresy

the world's little sunbeam (in orbit), Wednesday, 5 April 2017 19:38 (eight years ago)

me too! part of the reason i love may

marcos, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 19:41 (eight years ago)

this year is kind of bringing an early spring - i see some trees flowering already, but most years there is a very marked shift between even late april and early may, it seems like everything goes into bloom as soon as may arrives. the first few weeks of april are generally barren

marcos, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 19:43 (eight years ago)

april showers bring may flowers

Mordy, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 19:49 (eight years ago)

I was born in April but I've since forgiven it

in time of lost search (wins), Wednesday, 5 April 2017 19:50 (eight years ago)

april is the cruelest month and may is my (and my first born's) birthday month so these are two months that could not be more different!

Mordy, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 19:53 (eight years ago)

still really cold in the beginning of April, it's basically still winter (at least around here). May is when it starts getting warm enough to go occasionally outside without a jacket. Worlds apart.

January, February and most of March are pretty much the same though. As are July and August.

silverfish, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 19:59 (eight years ago)

We didn't have much of a winter here, buds/blooms/leaves are about 3 weeks ahead of schedule, and we've already had to use air conditioning this past month, so March and April seem like pretty much the same month to me.

Spring and Fall are constant change, Winter and Summer are grueling sameness.

silverfish, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 20:02 (eight years ago)

summer is awesome

marcos, Wednesday, 5 April 2017 20:04 (eight years ago)

Clocks go forward at the end of March, so it's one hour brighter when I finish work, these things are important.

Punnet of the Grapes (Tom D.), Wednesday, 5 April 2017 20:12 (eight years ago)

classes end in April, exams occupy May
easter's sometimes in April but May is full of holidays nb I live in France
this is messed up, are you ok

droit au butt (Euler), Wednesday, 5 April 2017 20:12 (eight years ago)

Oops, we're comparing April and May, not March and April. Brighter still in May though.

ilx's wilful ignorance of everything south of the equator strikes again. April is awesome and distinct from every other month fuiud.

(I was born in April.)

Vernon Locke, Thursday, 13 April 2017 01:15 (eight years ago)

plz note: goole =/= ilx

June/July very similar to me too.

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Thursday, 13 April 2017 07:53 (eight years ago)

In these parts June and July are usually as unlike as can be.

The saying is April showers but seems to me we get more torrential downpours in May in SE England. Or at least I get caught in them more often. Maybe I go outside more in May.
