Like 99% of biopics, this will be terrible

the idea of a morrissey biopic which only goes as far as the point where he made the decision to drop his first name is kinda admirably perverse i guess

the dude they've cast as morrissey looks rather more like johnny marr to me

This was covered in Mojo, about 18 months ago, I did wonder what happened to it.

Marr was OK with it, Moz was seemingly uncontactable..

i wonder how bad it will have to be to spoil my enjoyment while watching it of himself's immense angry disgust at its existence

i'd quite like a sequel which focuses entirely on latterday moz's endless battles for vegetarian food at mid-size venues around the world

the bits about his childhood are the only decent bits in his autobio.

although there seems something a little done about his story of growing up in working-class manchester in crumbling neighbourhoods to irish parents, mother doting, father tough (and homophobic. in a memorable scene he turns a record off and tells morrissey to stop making a fool of himself or something as he dances to some song as an 10 year old child, subtext - he's acting too gay).

I read the autobio when it came out but stopped reading when it got to the bit where he's just complaining about what a chore it was touring the US. Agree that the best bits are in the first half - it's a very front-loaded book.

if it chronicles his childhood and formative years (vegetarianism/veganism, suicide, abuse, irish parents in manchester), it'd be semi-interesting

I was gonna say, it was no biggie in the Northern shithole estate where I came from, those that weren't 2nd gen Irish, Ukranian, Polish or Caribbean were the exception on some roads. And we grew up considering meat products very tasty and not to be such a fucking tedious cunt as him!
