How afraid are you? Hadn't heard about this, it's completed, apparently.

i am filled with extreme trepidation

gnaw on my meat oreo (bizarro gazzara), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 15:23 (eight years ago)

Like 99% of biopics, this will be terrible

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 15:24 (eight years ago)

the idea of a morrissey biopic which only goes as far as the point where he made the decision to drop his first name is kinda admirably perverse i guess

the dude they've cast as morrissey looks rather more like johnny marr to me

gnaw on my meat oreo (bizarro gazzara), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 15:32 (eight years ago)

This was covered in Mojo, about 18 months ago, I did wonder what happened to it.

Marr was OK with it, Moz was seemingly uncontactable..

Mark G, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 15:38 (eight years ago)

i wonder how bad it will have to be to spoil my enjoyment while watching it of himself's immense angry disgust at its existence

mark s, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 15:45 (eight years ago)

Let's hope Colm Meaney is available for the sequel

mahb, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 15:45 (eight years ago)

i might go see eat and eat beef jerky during

Supercreditor (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 15:46 (eight years ago)

it, eat, smiths, smeeths, let's call the whole thing off

Supercreditor (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 15:47 (eight years ago)

i'd quite like a sequel which focuses entirely on latterday moz's endless battles for vegetarian food at mid-size venues around the world

the bits about his childhood are the only decent bits in his autobio.

although there seems something a little done about his story of growing up in working-class manchester in crumbling neighbourhoods to irish parents, mother doting, father tough (and homophobic. in a memorable scene he turns a record off and tells morrissey to stop making a fool of himself or something as he dances to some song as an 10 year old child, subtext - he's acting too gay).

I read the autobio when it came out but stopped reading when it got to the bit where he's just complaining about what a chore it was touring the US. Agree that the best bits are in the first half - it's a very front-loaded book.

extreme trepidation

The only problem is that it might make Moz look like a knob, but he does that to himself anyway so wvs

Tbf, most lives are front loaded.

Julian Assange

his time in the smiths has less pages devoted to it than his 21st century solo career

Many a true word etc. (xp)

Punnet of the Grapes (Tom D.), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 18:41 (eight years ago)

This film is actually going to end with me stomping out of his 30-minute Jones Beach show in '91. "You're dead to me, Morrissey!"

I wish more shows were thirty minutes.

came here to write this

if it chronicles his childhood and formative years (vegetarianism/veganism, suicide, abuse, irish parents in manchester), it'd be semi-interesting

anything else is just...not worth it

i n f i n i t y (∞), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 19:18 (eight years ago)

lots of ppl have irish parents

s'rong, unstable (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 19:44 (eight years ago)

ah, but are they in Manchester?

Zings Can Only Get Better (snoball), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 19:50 (eight years ago)

I was gonna say, it was no biggie in the Northern shithole estate where I came from, those that weren't 2nd gen Irish, Ukranian, Polish or Caribbean were the exception on some roads. And we grew up considering meat products very tasty and not to be such a fucking tedious cunt as him!

calzino, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 19:54 (eight years ago)

otm, otm

s'rong, unstable (darraghmac), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 19:54 (eight years ago)

ah, but are they in Manchester?

Lots of them are. Was Johnny Marr part of Mozzer's formative years, 'cuz he's in the film.

Punnet of the Grapes (Tom D.), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 19:58 (eight years ago)

so Nowhere Boy but set in Manchester instead of Liverpool. could be good!

piscesx, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 19:59 (eight years ago)

they only kinda met once before *the* meeting if memory serves?

piscesx, Wednesday, 3 May 2017 19:59 (eight years ago)

Morrissey, Maher, Rourke, Joyce - slightly Irish, I think.

Punnet of the Grapes (Tom D.), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 20:01 (eight years ago)

Charlton would have 'em

was referring to anti-irish sentiment in britain

i n f i n i t y (∞), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 21:05 (eight years ago)

thankfully he didn't grow up in the west of scotland.

-_- (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 3 May 2017 21:08 (eight years ago)

although he would probably be less insufferable if he had #parochialregionalboosterism
