i don't know why you have to be an asshole about it? was starting this thread that big of a deal to you? having working in midtown myself i've had to walk through there plenty and at one point we had a large NYC contingent here.

'let us know you're safe' campaigns turn everything into a ghastly spectacle, the pornography of fear etc etc. awful and unnecessary imo. yes, ilx has tragically lost someone to a terrorist attack in the past - reading through the thread is heartbreaking as everyone gets more and more concerned for her whereabouts, but in either case we don't need to subject ourselves to that. and in this case, with only one confirmed dead, let's just wait and see. hopefully our little band is safe for now, but who knows what else may be affecting ilxors today? people don't just die from terrorism.
