Ten-year-old nabisco offTM:
Here's something funny: when I was ten years old I had a vague admiration for Donald Trump and Lee Iacocca (both very feted at the time) and a downright intense love of Alex P. Keaton from Family Ties, who I didn't understand to be something of a joke. As such, despite having really liked Mondale -- having a woman as a running mate impressed me, probably because of the mother/father dynamic of it -- I was convinced that I wanted to be a Republican and a businessman or lawyer of some sort. In fact, I started a "company" with my friends Brian and Jeff -- we made board games, and hired Tony, the best breakdancer I have ever known, to do the art -- and I was constantly attempting to read the law and economics books in my father's library. Everyone seemed to think this was "cute," though I sort of wish someone had just explained politics to me. In either case, I got over it quickly and went back to wanting to be a writer....― nabisco (nabisco), Saturday, June 14, 2003 1:28 PM (fourteen years ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired. Get the picture? You laughing now? You got leads. Part of my problem is that I have to do a lot of things myself. It takes so much time. Julio Iglesias is coming to Mar-a-Lago, but I have to call Julio, I have to have lunch with Julio. I have Pavarotti coming. Pavarotti doesn’t perform for anybody. He’s the highest-paid performer in the world. A million dollars a performance. The hardest guy to get. If I call him, he’ll do it—for a huge amount less. Why? Because they like me, they respect me, I don’t know.

Didn't the DOJ already say they are "winding down" the investigations?

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/16/nyregion/trump-immunity-criminal-case.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
A judge on Monday rejected Donald J. Trump’s argument that a recent Supreme Court ruling had nullified his criminal case in New York, upholding the former and future president’s felony conviction for falsifying records to cover up a sex scandal.
The judge’s ruling preserves, at least for now, the stain of Mr. Trump’s criminal conviction. And if the decision withstands an appeal, Mr. Trump could become the first felon to serve as president.
The ruling, which addressed the Supreme Court’s decision to grant presidents broad immunity for their official actions, thwarted only the first of several legal maneuvers Mr. Trump has concocted to clear his record of 34 felonies before returning to the White House.
Prosecutors had argued that the Supreme Court’s decision had “no bearing on this prosecution,” noting that Mr. Trump was convicted of orchestrating a scheme involving a personal and political crisis that predated his presidency
