fwiw i know a lot of russian american jews and they all tend to be more right-wing than other groups. primarily ime bc of lingering hatred for communism (and generally if they came here it's because they were optimistic about capitalism). they also tend to be a highly educated (primarily STEM ime) group. there should be no surprise that

Maymin's family immigrated from communist Russia to America when he was five years old.[1] Maymin graduated from Harvard University in 1997 where he earned a B.A. in computer science and an M.S. in applied mathematics in 3 and a half years.

In December, 2007, he graduated with a PhD in Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. His dissertation was entitled Self-Imposed Limits to Arbitrage.

this guy likes trump

Everything after "How's he doing?" should have an asterisk, all leading to the footnote: citation needed.

I'd like to know in what sense he is "a journalist and an author". The internet has blurred the qualifications for these occupations so thoroughly that such a claim no longer has much meaning without giving specifics.

he posts on ilm

Nice that he name checks his Harvard and U. of Chicago degrees, but when it comes to his current "academic" employment, the location remains conspicuously nameless.
