It's interesting to me when there is an actual Hawaiian word which may or may not also appear in pidgin which has an English translation that itself sounds like pidgin, such as "kolohe," which is usually translated as "rascal," "rascal boy," or "rascal guy" etc. These days I only ever think of the word "rascal" wrt that one Louis Armstrong song.
