perversely, I find hand sanitizer gross

Fedora Dostoyevsky (man alive), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:15 (six years ago)

lotion all the way

hand sanitizer smells vile

princess of hell (BradNelson), Monday, 9 July 2018 23:15 (six years ago)

sanitizer is mostly jellied alcohol. it's a bit harsh for just rubbing on indiscriminately for the aroma of it. however, it does a decent job of massacring bacteria.

It’s also good for rubbing on mosquito bites right after they getcha. Might be placebo but I swear it nulls some of the itch and makes them dissipate faster

I loved this piece on Purell a few years back:

SOAP

brimstead, Tuesday, 10 July 2018 00:25 (six years ago)

actually no, i LOVE soap

brimstead, Tuesday, 10 July 2018 00:26 (six years ago)

soap rules extremely but imo you gotta moisturize

princess of hell (BradNelson), Tuesday, 10 July 2018 00:35 (six years ago)

Don't really like either, also on the soap train, but if I have to choose, it's lotion.

I’m one of those that keeps a mini bottle of purell in the man bag - especially for air travel, it’s such a safety blanket whenever I have to use a public restroom. We also have sanitizer next to the liquid soap in all our bathrooms in the house (as a general rule, sanitizer is OK for #1, soap for #2). Always the aloe variety.

El Tomboto, Sunday, 15 July 2018 01:08 (six years ago)

Same

I keep the aloe purell hand sanitizer in my bag and/or car

I think soap is kinda just ok and hot water is hard on your hands

Hand sanitizer on the other hand has an added bonus of causing rapid evaporative cooling when u apply it

this seems like a very american thread

There was a kid in my high school whose nickname was Lotion. I've never heard of a kid called Hand Sanitizer.

I think both of these things are triumphs of marketing departments
