could be good/could be bad, looks like one of those 90s Tarantino knockoffs that got made in the wake of Pulp Fiction

Yeah, there's a Smokin' Aces vibe

honestly i don't like this trailer but I loved CABIN IN THE WOODS, so I'll definitely see it

one month passes...

So this was pretty lousy. Tarantino has a lot to answer for.

Actually thought this was great! Erivo particularly is a great discovery.
Would've been even better if the trailer hadn't ruined most of the twists

Nhex, Sunday, 14 October 2018 16:10 (six years ago)

i still want to see this but it looks made for renting later at some point. Shakey correct that it looks like a 90's tarantino knock off. Are we now at the point in culture where we're nostalgic for knockoffs?

It is exactly this, except add villains straight out of central casting and without a hint of ambiguity or nuance whatsoever

trailer for this has given me exactly these thoughts, plus much rolling of the eyes

Leon Carrotsky (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 14 October 2018 16:50 (six years ago)

The trailer is misleading. In its tone, story structure, and in its confident direction this movie is closer in style to actual Tarantino than one of those 90s knockoffs. So I guess that makes it a top-tier knockoff? In any case, I liked it.

i would agree it's a top-tier knockoff, as a compliment

nine months pass...

I just saw this movie and it was a ton of fun

yep, way better than any of the 90s knockoffs I can remember. also drawing on more elements of 90s Tarantino than those knockoffs - silliness, chronology, colour.
