am i an artist ?

anthony, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You might be an artist, but the act itself doesn't make you an artist.

jel, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This yam has hit rock bottom.

the pinefox, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That depends, do you leave them in there, or what?

dave q, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You are Karen FInley and I claim my free membership of the ICA.

Andrew L, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Excellent, Piney. This is the 2nd time in as many days that the Pinefox has me chuckling.

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yeah, but like what do you do with them? do you display them, cos that has to be part of art i guess - it has to be out there, and unless you;ve got a camera shoved up yr ass, how do we get to see the yams and judge if its art?

Geoff, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If you do it to n audience then you could call it performance art which'd make you a performance artist so yeah. However if you don't then ,wellan interesting pasttime...does it turn you on? Are you going for the guiness book of records?

Foine, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

goeff, Friday, 25 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If a man sticks a yam up his ass, and no is there to see it, is it art?

Brian MacDonald, Friday, 25 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Would Russetts make it any less of an artistic statement?

i don't know you people, but your message board is a top link for queries on "yams up ass + performance art" at google. i'm looking for serious academic research on the subject, not a bunch of preverts...

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=yams+up+ass+%2B+performance+art

check your ranking daily, don't get off topic and let it slip!

and of course you are an artist, sweetie. and kenny g is a musician.

crack pipe, Friday, 22 November 2002 10:34 (twenty-three years ago)

wouldn't an aubergine be better? They have more bounce to them, so your art could double up as a kind of miniature Spacehopper should you fail to win the Turner Prize.

I had yam fries last night, and I had fond memories of them up until I discovered this thread just now.

timmy tannin (pompous), Saturday, 30 September 2006 14:28 (nineteen years ago)

Wouldn't it be beneficial, as yams are an aphrodisiac? Wouldn't asparagus be a hell of a lot easier though?

JTS (JTS), Saturday, 30 September 2006 22:51 (nineteen years ago)

Oysters and champagne would be best of all.

I saw her give a talk about a year ago. She said she might write a book that would be Laura Bush's fictional dream journal. It sounded hilarious.

Oh and I think she was wearing leather American flag pants.

filthy dylan, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 06:23 (eighteen years ago)

I took a course taught by Holly Hughes in college. She's really mellowed out since the NEA 4 days, but for what it's worth, anyone stuffing yams up their ass for a project would surely have earned an A+, so long as they could justify it conceptually (and that ain't hard in art school).

Pillbox, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 06:37 (eighteen years ago)

she's amazing. she taught a class in our library where she had her students cast spells.
