ans: if our bad guys are FF (corrupt, parish pump, gombeen short term gains, links to church throughout all scandals) then no

if our bad guys are SF (killed people, lots of ppl, dont have many policies besides) then no

if our bad guys are FG (toryish economic policy, love the queen) then yep

lie back and think of englund (darraghmac), Tuesday, 6 November 2018 23:00 (seven years ago)

I voted for SF once, as in the Socialist Folk Party. Just a one time thing, though, the rest of the time I've voted for the former Communists.

Frederik B, Tuesday, 6 November 2018 23:19 (seven years ago)

I’ve voted FF in GE, FG in European and both first and last times. Neither made any difference.

I voted Lib Dem here in 2010, in a safe Labour seat, but that’s the one I get shamed about most.

gyac, Tuesday, 6 November 2018 23:36 (seven years ago)

I voted Labour in 1997, I was naive, it had been a long 18 years

clynical repression (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 6 November 2018 23:39 (seven years ago)

Major said afterwards "If I'd run against myself i'd have lost" - but he was running against himself!

calzino, Tuesday, 6 November 2018 23:43 (seven years ago)

Jesus we're on 39 years of Tory government now no wonder I'm depressed

clynical repression (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 6 November 2018 23:45 (seven years ago)

I voted for the federal PCs/Tories in 1997, during a weird phase. They were sort of a fading centre-right relic led by a future Liberal Premier at that point, with a bigger party to their right, and the Libs had passed a radically neoliberal budget two years earlier, so I don't think that counts.

The nexus of the crisis (Sund4r), Tuesday, 6 November 2018 23:55 (seven years ago)

a few years back i had a younger brother + a stepdad voting for UKIP. I was thinking at the time this is so beyond the pale and embarrassing, and what kind of animals vote for neo-fascists in the mid 2010s - but obv just a slightly shameful outlier and nothing to see here.

When I was 18 I uncovered a little-known voter fraud loophole and voted twice. While university students were accounted for, one thing HM Gov hadn't borne in mind was boarding school pupils. I turned 18 a few months before the 2005 GE but was still in residence at Westminster for the election; I received voting cards both there and at home. So, during the day, I travelled back to the safe Labour seat of Lewisham East and showed my scorn for that warmonger Blair by voting Lib Dem (except instead of an X in the box I drew a little hand with its finger upraised, so grandly did I cherish my uniqueness). Come evening, I returned to the safe Tory seat of Westminster and having already cast my 'real' vote, put my X beside the Veritas candidate - yes, the hard-right party led by Kilroy - for what are nowadays termed 'the lulz'. I believe the clincher was the candidate's address, at a location known as Little Britain.

A year later I joined ILX, and continued to demonstrate excellent qualities therein.

No, but I've rarely enjoyed voting for the less bad guys.

wayne trotsky (Simon H.), Wednesday, 7 November 2018 00:54 (seven years ago)

No, technically, but I've voted for some pretty shitty Democrats on the state level. None of them won so they couldn't transcend to true bad guys.

louise ck (milo z), Wednesday, 7 November 2018 00:55 (seven years ago)

I've never voted Tory.

My only real voting regret was voting for the trotskyist SSP in the 2003 Scottish Parliament election.

I've only been eligible to vote in safe constituencies held by Labour and/or the SNP (one constituency flipped from Labour to SNP, going from a massive majority for Labour to a massive majority for SNP. I voted SNP when it was safe Labour, SNP the time it flipped, then Labour when it was safe SNP).

i earnestly talked about voting tory for accelerationist purposes in the 2005 election, but didn't do so

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 7 November 2018 18:40 (seven years ago)

i voted for andrew cuomo yesterday, so

mookieproof, Wednesday, 7 November 2018 18:42 (seven years ago)

i have voted for white men on occasion if this is a confessional

lie back and think of englund (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 November 2018 18:44 (seven years ago)

Voted for hitler but it was in a safe gaz constituency

coetzee.cx (wins), Wednesday, 7 November 2018 18:45 (seven years ago)

xp this doesn’t count since Leo has/had some hideous views

gyac, Wednesday, 7 November 2018 18:49 (seven years ago)

never had to. i could probably do it if i needed to, but i haven't needed to. my vote has never counted so i've always either voted for the furthest-left mainstream party (ndp in canada) or once or twice for a non-player when i didn't think the ndp was, uh, good

closest i maybe got was ranking the eventual leader of the ndp on a ranked ballot the lowest and probably putting some scumbags in front of him (at like 4th or 5th) just because i thought he was such a tool (sup mulcair). i still ranked the "actual socialist" candidate first and the "cares about environment a lot" guy second.

vote no on ilxit (Will M.), Wednesday, 7 November 2018 18:50 (seven years ago)

xp

is leo....white

lie back and think of englund (darraghmac), Wednesday, 7 November 2018 18:52 (seven years ago)

you know what I mean! My favourite Leo thing is how he’s far more right wing than each of his parents - his dad was a labour voter ffs

gyac, Wednesday, 7 November 2018 18:58 (seven years ago)

maybe his dads dad hadnt money....

Yeah I fell for the libdem con trick in 2010. Was hoping for a liblab coalition with a smidge of green, a few different ideas into a government that by then was getting very stale. Never thought for a million years they would get in bed with the Tories.

thomasintrouble, Thursday, 8 November 2018 13:26 (seven years ago)

Never voted Tory but I did vote Lib Dem in 2005, and I think I voted TUSC in a local election once not realising they were linked to the SWP (apparently not anymore, but they were then).

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 8 November 2018 13:54 (seven years ago)

I once got very drunk and joined the Lib Dems and then never got round to leaving for two years. This was around 2005 and very much pre-coalition. I was a student, it was at a party for some club or organisation I was interested in, it was all fun and games and Jack Rabbit wine and then bang someone had a clipboard out, I can barely remember it

boxedjoy, Thursday, 8 November 2018 17:26 (seven years ago)

I've voted for literally every single candidate every time I've ever voted

you can't put the local version of the bad guys at position #130 out of 130 if you don't

Sing The Mighty Beat (sic), Thursday, 8 November 2018 17:28 (seven years ago)

You'd think Australia would have the best democracy on Earth eh

On a vaguely related note, “I Don’t Even Own a Television” is a good podcast about bad books.
