Getting the Date Wrong

Went to the Cellar (music bevnue here in Oxford) last night to see Chris T-T. The list of acts playing was on the wall outise and he wasn't on it, so went to the pub instead, where they had copies of the local music paper Nightshift. Turns out he's on *next* Monday.

Have you gone to anything on the wrong day lately?

A couple of my mates got tickets to see Brian Wilson in London recently. One of them told me what happened by recounting a phone call between the two of them:

Ian: "Mike, how would you feel if we were a bit late for the Brian Wilson gig?"
Mike: "Why, are you doing something beforehand that's going to overrun?"
Ian: "No, it was last week."

Superb.

Knowing C2T, I'm surprised that it wasn't *HIM* turning up at the venue on the wrong date. "Wot? We're playing NEXT Monday? Oh, Bother! Back to the ranch, Timothy!"

I regularly used to return to school a day too early after the summer holidays. It was so confusing with all those midweek starts and secret 'no kids' dry runs.

Often? How many summer holidays did you have per summer where you grew up?

I said 'regularly'. Once a year is v.regular.

this one time I had to go to a cafe every day at 2pm for a week because I forgot which day I was supposed to be there.

aw, that's really thoughtful.

Would've been funny if you'd been stood up. They might claim "I was there on the wrong day," and you could be all "Hah! I was there every day!"
