Mid-Life Crisis

How do you see yourself coping a midlife crisis? Will you throw away all your Armani suits and put on leather trouses and see through shirt. Then jump on your motorcycle while listening to Garage music.

I am 40 going on 16, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This will be precisely my response. I will also do what my boss at old firm did and bring a 19 year old au pair into the office and introduce her to everyone and then go round afterwards saying "Isn't she gorgeous" and everyone will think "Ew" and "Not a chance in hell" and I will have done them a favour in giving them reliable pub bitching material for the next year.

Fell in love. [xXx] eight yrs younger, "out of my league" (or vice versa perhaps hey d'yever think of THAT!!)

In response less to panic abt aging, which does not bother me, but to discovering I wuz aged 35, utterly bored with my pure, free- form autonomous isolate-isotope self so- called. I needed to touch a superheated/ cooled surface and for my skin to come away from my body and remain stuck to said surface = an adventure that mattered. What you wish for you get.

I will ponder more music and have some fine food with friends. Num.

My first reaction: play M's "Pop Muzik" and see what it did to me ...

i had mine at the age of 22 - once is enough.

Geoff, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm trying to cope with one at the moment.

Marcello Carlin, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I will not plan.

anthony, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I had one at 25. I wonder, are you allowed to have two?

Kim, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Getting older = the best form of revenge. Bette Davis was asked once if she envied Joan Crawford to which she replied, "why should I envy her, she's dead?" Perspective! Why not act badly? The older you get - the less excuses you need...

I have no idea. Hey, I'm having an early-twenties crisis now, I don't want to think about middle age.

DG, Saturday, 18 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have been in an age crisis ever since I was about 15, so I really don't see 40 presenting any particular problems.

"out of my league" (or vice versa perhaps hey d'yever think of THAT!!)

Isn't that what people mean when they say "You're too good for me"?

Nick, Sunday, 19 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Also: "It's not you, it's me" = "It's not me, IT'S YOU!!!!"

mark s, Sunday, 19 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'll probably just try and grow my hair long.

jel, Sunday, 19 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't have the energy to bother rebelling. This causes me grief. 40? 16 is a problem enough.
