I'm not really angry. Wasted energy. I prefer to chill: less wrinkles.
― nathom, Monday, 18 February 2019 18:17 (six years ago)
I have an anger problem that I hate, in that when I get angry I tend to get real angry, and do and say stupid stuff that I regret. But it does not happen often, so I wouldn't call myself "angry". I am old though.
― calumy (rip van wanko), Monday, 18 February 2019 18:20 (six years ago)
The only value I can see in anger is if it gives you the energy and motivation to change the situation that is angering you. Getting angry about what is beyond your control and you cannot change is an exercise in futility that merely raises the level of your frustration to intolerable levels.
Old and angry people are usually caught in that feedback loop of anger-futility-frustration followed by more anger, etc. They are very unhappy people and have zero awareness of how to remedy that. Instead they try to wreck things and sometimes they succeed. It doesn't help.

Last week I wrote an email to my county councilmember's assistant because the new streetlights are too bright.

omg I write so many letters in my mind. to large corporations, celebrities. and every one contains the disclaimer, "I am not the kind of person who writes complaint letters to companies" lol. but it's true, I never have.*
I did write a STRONGLY worded email to the transit system of a town I lived in once, because the buses were (literally) never on time. I did get a thoughtful response from the director with an invitation to meet face to face. I wish I had accepted but lol no

Aimless otm. I like to make a distinction between rage, which is related to that feedback loop he is talking about, and other, more productive types of anger.

I just witnessed (old) manager and (old) colleague having a fight in the shop. Lol. It was uncomfortable to say the least.

Getting old lowers your serotonin. Prolonged use of ecstasy lowers your serotonin. Are we due a wave of grumpy rave grandads?

Just had a nice chat with a gentleman in a cafe who must have been close to 90. He wasn't angry in the slightest. Maybe there's a point where you stop being angry
― imago, Wednesday, 20 February 2019 14:06 (six years ago)
or maybe he was one of the people who was never all that angry!

As I get older I get angrier and mellower at the same time. I've always been pretty happy. Probably happier since I don't have to dither about as much.
― Yerac, Wednesday, 20 February 2019 20:28 (six years ago)
going by the old people i've met, it looks like the older they get, the less angry they become, which is cool
old and angry people make me sad

I should get angrier. Mainly bec I was raised to never be angry. I think releasing anger can be a good thing. To stifle (?) those feelings and turn them inwards: RONG. And harmful.
