now i’m riding shotgun in your car with the steering wheel that doesn’t fly off while you’re driving

THREE STACKS ON THE RADIO

maura, Tuesday, 25 June 2019 03:19 (six years ago)

i have had "friday night" stuck in my head for weeks

american bradass (BradNelson), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 03:19 (six years ago)

Only about 1/7 of this show worked for me but man that 1/7 killed

Simon H., Tuesday, 25 June 2019 03:24 (six years ago)

yeah it reminds me a lot of Key & Peele in that regard - K&P had a better hit rate but they both did the "take a goofy SNL-style comedy premises and dial it up five extra notches" sorta thing

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 June 2019 03:44 (six years ago)

I will say this show's good sketches nail the landing more often than K&P's good ones, which generally just petered out

Simon H., Tuesday, 25 June 2019 03:49 (six years ago)

one that i love that no one talks about is the faux-elvis guy trying to record his rock song who makes the mistake of telling his backing band to "just wing it"

great use of conor o'malley. so many peaks here but tc tuggers kills me.

devvvine, Tuesday, 25 June 2019 14:35 (six years ago)

of course after i post that, i see that sketch is listed in the ringer's "best tv moments of 2019 so far"

na (NA), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 14:37 (six years ago)

yeah that one was my fav sketch.

i also have a soft spot for the sketch where the ghost of sam richardson future screams at scrooge and recruits him into the skeleton war

old cloud yells at man (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 14:53 (six years ago)

also, write-in vote for "if you don't! that mean...that you yourself are admitting yourself...that you SUCK!"

old cloud yells at man (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 14:54 (six years ago)

i think the honk if you're horny/"friday night" sketch is perfect. after that my favorite is probably the overwhelming dark energy of the howie sketch. i have met that guy... many times

american bradass (BradNelson), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 15:02 (six years ago)

your family doesn't love you! only i love you!

I just wanna tweet the "You have no good car ideas" clip at Elon Musk all day

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 June 2019 15:11 (six years ago)

Speaking of the skeleton war, there's something very dril-ian about the Robinson persona often used in these sketches

Simon H., Tuesday, 25 June 2019 15:14 (six years ago)

i can see that. it has a similar absurdist ethos, scatalogical focus, and disregard for polite society.

old cloud yells at man (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 15:23 (six years ago)

The maniacal confidence in ill-conceived ideas

Simon H., Tuesday, 25 June 2019 15:31 (six years ago)

feel like i could assemble a dril tweet just out of the hot dog car sketch

american bradass (BradNelson), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 15:50 (six years ago)

for me this show is like the center of a venn diagram between mr. show and tim and eric. the great sketches are highly rewatchable

american bradass (BradNelson), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 15:53 (six years ago)

I believe Conner O’Malley was brought to earth just for “Honk If You’re Horny” sketch.

Rambling hot dog car crash is another peak that comes to mind.

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Tuesday, 25 June 2019 15:54 (six years ago)

I've only seen CO'M in this and his series of videos aimed at Howard Schultz but he uh certainly makes a quick impression

Simon H., Tuesday, 25 June 2019 15:58 (six years ago)

His “perfect egg bite” scene from Joe Pera Talks to You is another all-timer

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Tuesday, 25 June 2019 16:03 (six years ago)

Also his appearances as the beast masturbator during the public access run of the Chris Gethard show

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Tuesday, 25 June 2019 16:05 (six years ago)

didn't realize he was the guy behind those "what kind of player pimp drives that" vines, but he's a unique talent.

old cloud yells at man (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 25 June 2019 16:11 (six years ago)

the moment when the camera pans over to the guy in the hot dog color suit is amazing

whaaaaaaattttt???

maura, Monday, 8 July 2019 14:52 (six years ago)

gotta say this is definitely a show that gets the most out of its guest stars. I'd imagine pretty much all of those sketches were written with someone in mind.

frogbs, Monday, 8 July 2019 14:56 (six years ago)

So it seems one of this show's best tricks is to suddenly reverse the peripheral "straight man" supporting/side characters into active participants in the silliness.

Evan, Monday, 8 July 2019 20:32 (six years ago)

This show has some real good bits but I can 100% do without the lazy, post-Tim & Eric wacky edit stuff.

Funky Isolations (jed_), Monday, 8 July 2019 22:04 (six years ago)

the high school teen romance set up for the TC Tuggers sketch is so perfectly filmed.

So it seems one of this show's best tricks is to suddenly reverse the peripheral "straight man" supporting/side characters into active participants in the silliness.

yeah I love this sort of thing, sketch comedy is inheritably predictable so I like that this show really isn't. though this is also sort of a Tim & Eric thing.

hahaha yes his impatience and single-mindedness go hand in hand

comrade jhøsh (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 18 November 2025 11:06 (one month ago)

this show does capture pretty well the unique stress of having your work life and your family life and personal projects all collapse upon each other, with people from each urgently needing to get ahold of you at the same time

frogbs, Tuesday, 18 November 2025 14:53 (one month ago)

Also loved the bit this episode where Lou Diamond Phillips is trying to explain his vision for the changes he wants to the mall so gets them to scroll through a bunch of random vacation pics on his phone

groovypanda, Tuesday, 18 November 2025 16:59 (one month ago)

nailed the feeling of having one's life affected by the whims of some dickhead who's high up at your company

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 18 November 2025 17:06 (one month ago)

my favorite line of the episode was the guy at the party, "let me know when you're done with your story, i have a bunch of more interesting ones"

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 18 November 2025 17:07 (one month ago)

haha that was funny

Edward Albee Sure (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 18 November 2025 17:25 (one month ago)

one cool detail is that the daughter actually seems genuinely interested in the Tecca stuff now

frogbs, Tuesday, 18 November 2025 18:39 (one month ago)

I was a little confused about this guy — he’s doing some sort of school project with ron’s son?

comrade jhøsh (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 18 November 2025 19:17 (one month ago)

i wasn't sure what to make of that either, but the show tends to have some visible age gaps that make no sense, like ron's coworker who supposedly went to high school with him. one of the things i like about the show is it seems like when they have a choice between something that makes any rational sense and something that's funny they always go with funny

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 18 November 2025 19:55 (one month ago)

which is maybe why i had to take a moment to consider this theory:

she's behind it

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 18 November 2025 19:58 (one month ago)

Also loved the bit this episode where Lou Diamond Phillips is trying to explain his vision for the changes he wants to the mall so gets them to scroll through a bunch of random vacation pics on his phone

this, as someone who works in advertising, really fucking hits home!

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 18 November 2025 20:01 (one month ago)

Maybe the daughter is just acting like she's into it now to keep closer tabs on him.

"I set my coffee cup down on the table, and it collapsed! And everyone in the room laughed at me!"

nickn, Friday, 21 November 2025 00:48 (one month ago)

well that one felt like a series of ITYSL sketches more than any episode so far but also things actually happen

prob the best episode yet, I mean I gotta watch it again it was so crazy

frogbs, Monday, 24 November 2025 14:43 (one month ago)

saw this show described as "anti-Reddit" as in it's so unpredictable that you can't even bother to speculate about what's gonna happen next and every trope it uses is instantly subverted. only thing I can think of that reminds me of it is maybe seeing The Big Lebowski or Pulp Fiction for the first time

frogbs, Thursday, 27 November 2025 04:52 (four weeks ago)

thought this one was kind of weak. nothing happened and there weren’t really any gutbusting moments

comrade jhøsh (k3vin k.), Thursday, 27 November 2025 05:01 (four weeks ago)

series as a whole has been great to be clear

comrade jhøsh (k3vin k.), Thursday, 27 November 2025 05:01 (four weeks ago)

see I felt the opposite I thought this one was hilarious

frogbs, Thursday, 27 November 2025 05:29 (four weeks ago)

I'm just starting on The Chair Company and I'm so glad I found it. No-one I know (apart from my husband) will have heard of it or like it.

I agree w frogbs, e6 was most enjoyable so far... and funniest.

I will make a prediction:

The e6 resolution was cooked up by wife and daughter to stop tr going off the rails...

m0stly clean (Slowsquatch), Saturday, 29 November 2025 01:56 (three weeks ago)

xp my wife is in that situation - every few minutes she goes "I'm so confused right now!" and "what is wrong with him??", I've asked her a couple times if she still wants to watch it with me and she says "yeah it's a really good show!"

The episode title was the biggest laugh for me, when it came up

I'm glad you all mentioned this being renewed. I don't need total closure but I need more than... that

Vinnie, Monday, 1 December 2025 13:11 (three weeks ago)

did I miss something or was that cold open completely unrelated to anything ??

frogbs, Monday, 1 December 2025 14:34 (three weeks ago)

It was one of the Red Bull Global Media guys getting shot

Edward Albee Sure (Neanderthal), Monday, 1 December 2025 14:35 (three weeks ago)

oh wow...I missed that *he* was Stacy Crystals

frogbs, Monday, 1 December 2025 16:42 (three weeks ago)

I was wondering if the Red Ball Market Global song was based on the infamous KPMG song, when I realized the title company my mom has been dealing with the past month is called

♫ Red Door
Title Company ♫

Vinnie, Tuesday, 2 December 2025 01:28 (three weeks ago)

Lou Diamond Phillips was such a great casting for this

frogbs, Tuesday, 2 December 2025 03:57 (three weeks ago)

his reactions during the meeting where everybody was basically questioning his manhood, was so good.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 2 December 2025 03:58 (three weeks ago)

ok so Stacy Crystals is a guy running some scheme revolving around middle age men who can write songs, and he's roped Jeff into it along with some other guy whose kid shoots him with what I assume is a 3-D printed gun?

wonder what sort of plan they have for Season 2 if any, I remember the Breaking Bad writers talking about how when they finished a season they didn't really have any idea where things were going more than anyone else did

frogbs, Thursday, 4 December 2025 01:08 (three weeks ago)

We gotta fly Jeff Chris in from Indiana to mix it professionally

Edward Albee Sure (Neanderthal), Thursday, 4 December 2025 01:10 (three weeks ago)

really hope they release the Red Ball Market Global song, it was so catchy. I wonder if anyone figured out that was Lou Diamond Phillips' voice

kinder, Monday, 8 December 2025 21:31 (two weeks ago)

same. was hoping for some kind of resolution. didn't need a perfect bow on everything – but was hoping for something more than whatever... that was!

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 8 December 2025 21:44 (two weeks ago)

i'm just wrapping this up now, i have enjoyed it. it does feel like a sketch show thinly disguised as a narrative show but i don't mind, lots of great weirdos.
also nice to see lou diamond philips again, haven't seen that dude in forever.

na (NA), Monday, 8 December 2025 21:46 (two weeks ago)

in retrospect I do find it interesting that the advance screenings didn't show the finale. maybe that's just because they didn't want to risk the big twists getting spoiled but I wondered if how E8 went was dependent on whether or not the show got picked up for another season. because the 7th episode felt like it should've been the finale but obviously the show is too weird to let that happen
